No, but I don't know what else to do...

Well the first thing you could do is not start another useless war that should help out a tad. Secondly maybe the US should really consider getting out (I don’t share that stance) but it is an option. You got yourself into this mess, and like I said long ago don’t expect us (the world) to give a shit.

This idea of only targeting military is very new and we will have to see if it is successful. In WWII, the Germans indiscriminately bombed London without a thought to civilian casualies and the US often bombed civilians to destroy their moral. There was a bombing in Germany where the US Airforce dropped so many fire bombs that the wind started rushing into the middle of the city dragging the city's population into the fire. In Japan (if memory serves) the number of people killed from US fire bomb attacks on Tokyo exceeded the number killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined (I'm too lazy to look that one up today).

So endorsing some of the best examples of complete and total human rights abuse makes you better then Saddam? Why don’t you just come out and say it, Saddam is your American idol. I mean really he was doing everything your implying, killing thousands indiscrimately to quash all resistance. It worked, but you know what it doesn’t work for long.

    What to do???

While I watch CNN from my porch drinking my Lemonade, I should asking myself “What to do???” should I laugh or cry?

You said we have to "proactively prevent" the next 9.11. Of all the countries that pose a threat, you really think Iraq poses the greatest? Or even poses a threat at all? The "threat" that we've all been told is that "they have weapons of mass destruction." Ignoring the fact that the weapons were never found - do you know how many other countries have weapons of mass destruction? Do you not think it's the least bit hypocritical that we attacked Iraq because they might have WMD, when WE, the United States, have far more than anyone else?

These are just things to think about.

And please, explain to me how launching a full scale war against a country that has never done anything to us will discourage them from attacking us in the future.

  8. The United States is still trying to play by the rules when not if we decide that the rules are not working. We are capable of committing the same atrocities that worked so well for Rome. If we feel that it is to our advantage we do bad things. The only restraint is the rule of law and ask bush how effective that is the terrorist have not seen what happens when the United States decides to fight on their level

One would think that Bin Laden not having taken any of you folks hostage means your opinions literally mean nothing in the Grand Scheme of things.

The fact of my comment lends little to the contrary.

Ah well G. Some of us are afforded the luxury of a vote that counts.
I'm sure your aware that in the recent local government and European elections held here in the UK Tonys 'new' Labour party gained the support of a less than massive 10% of the population. His support for the US in Iraq is considered the primary reason for this piss poor result by all political pundits of both left and right.
If the pattern is repeated for the next general election you may just find that the 'coalition of the willing' is down by one member.
But your an American so I guess you couldn't care less.

BTW I was under the impression that anybody 'taken hostage by Bin Laden' was unlikely to be able to express any opinion whatsoever.

Keep shooting at ghosts people. All that defence spending helps keep your economy afloat.

Take a second guess about my estimation of yet another of your opinions.

It's a matter of numbers -- and even with this place, that's insuffucient for your purposes.

You exist: Let's leave it at that.

if the world doesn't give a shit, then why does it keep on complaining about US actions? and why should you criticize our methods? it's our mess (as you say), so let us deal with it our way. just following the logic of your argument, unless you wish to clarify it.

if the world doesn't give a shit, then why does it keep on complaining about US actions?

Because they are inhumane, illegal, and unjustified, the world has a perfect right to complain on this one because it rejected this war. What I was stating is that you shouldn’t expect us (meaning the public) to care if you fail or not. But of course our govts have to care. We are talking about a potential scene of a major regional war that could spread all over the place. The US is now only a stepping stone to something greater imo.

it's our mess (as you say), so let us deal with it our way.

Well, you may do as you like but you don’t seem to listen to your own generals and those of other nations.

The US listens to its generals

Recent evidence seems to show that Bush et al seem to have denied the warnings of their generals. For instance the general (whose name escapes me now) who told that the US was going in without enough men. The neo-cons reject the notion of bad news; they don't want to hear it. As for Al Q they don’t' have a command structure that's what makes it so dangerous.
