I'm still using 56k dialup...which only gets 3kb down, depends on what I'm doing on the Internet at the time as to what my upload speed is

Verizon DSL should be coming out where I live soon, so I'll be able to get that.

I have DSL and I live right near the signal enhancer, so I get between 150-300 k/s download. I tested my connection and it says that I have 2.5 Megabits/sec connection.

The best part about my connection is that I have no cap because i live in a semi-rural area, so they don't bother with stopping the connection at 5 or 10 GB/Month. I decided to cloack how much I download in a week, and one week, I downloaded 50 GB.

Sometimes, my Internet connection is SO TERRIBLE PAINFULLY slow! It's dialup. Which ALSO means we can't get phone calls while I'm on the Net . . . not that we get many phone calls.

We have two phone lines, so that we can get phone calls while online, since I'm usually on for a long time (I'd be on less if I had a faster connection...Honestly!!) Also it helps when I'm helping someone with computers on the phone, and I can be on the Internet searching the answer as well.

I get 28.8 with my US Robotics hardware modem, and I can sometimes connect as fast 34.6 with the cheapy Winmodem I also have installed. I use Device Manager to disable the one that I'm not using.

I use the USR modem most of the time. It gives em a better ping for online gaming than the Winmodem, even at a significantly lower speed.

The winmodem is V92, which means you can use software to let you know when you have an incoming phone call. But I bought a little gizmo years ago that does the same thing. Catch A Call

I hardly ever get calls anyway.

Living in the country has its drawbacks.
