Bush gets modest poll bounce after convention, now in the lead.

Bush Loses... And by "Loses" I mean "Wins"

And this poll was taken before Bush's acceptance speech at the GOP Convention.

IOh man this will be legendary.

Kerry's campaign has been imploding, not because he's a bad candidate - which he is anyway - but because he's an inept campaigner.

The biggest impact of the poll is this here:

If the American people thing it was right to go into Iraq, there is no way Bush can lose unless Jesus Christ descends upon New York City and curses him with words like glowing coals.

While opinion over whether Iraq has made us safer is split, Bush has managed to get a 7-point bounce on that question in the past month. Any positive movement for either candidate on an issue or the election as a whole more than 3% is hugely significant in this tight election...

...Or at least, it was tight, until Bush opened a can of whoop ass named Zell Miller on John Kerry at the RNC.

What is also big with this poll is that the total amount who named a candidate they would vote for was 96%. 52-Bush 41-Kerry 3-Nader. That leaves only 4% of the electorate - according to this poll - undecided.

The margin of error for registered voters was 3% and for likely voters 4%. Acording to that, in order for Kerry to win, the margin of error would have to take as much as it can away from Bush, give it all to Kerry, (making it 49-44-3 or 48-45-3) and then Kerry would have to win all of the undecided votes to win, and that's only if you go by the 4% MoE.

The 11-point lead Bush has opened over Kerry is directly attributable to the GOP Convention and the Kerry campaign's bumbling responses to the Swift Boat Vets and that Convention. Kerry's responses basically consisted of "You're mean, hence, people are going to vote for me, and by the way, you're fucking assholes," and that doesn't cut it for the American people.

zell miller is an insane egomaniac who told an interviewer in response to a question, "i wish we were back in the days when we could challenge another person to a duel." - paraphrased but not by much. as undecided says, polls are meaningless, and as it is pointed out in another thread, God is mad at florida -so as it is now, he is clearly demonstrating his hatred over that state for screwing up

by the way, the conventions arent really having much success, america is already pretty much decided. and the ones who are undecided arent necessarily going to be swayed by self-propagandizing by either party.

 

The difference is that while Kerry got roughly a 4-point bounce, he did not open a lead of more than 5 points on Bush.

Bush also got a 4-point bounce, in most polls he was around 48%, but Kerry dropped 4 points as well, where with the DNC Kerry got his tiny bounce but Bush didn't go down at all.

 

If you look at the poll many are variable and don't seem that accurate. Think of it like this a election poll is poll of what people who vote and answer telephone questionnaires will vote for. That and you hope the poll is completely random selection of at least 1000 people. So don't rely on polls to predict the future.

Newsweek Poll Supports Bush Bounce Figure

Newsweek's poll backs up the Time poll. In fact, Newsweek shows a whopping 13-point bounce.

I was ready to vote against Bush, but Kerry really comes out incompetent.

What will really be funny, is if Kerry is elected and comes out worse than Bush. Then we'll all be kicking ourselves for a long time.

Instead of bringing up things against Bush, bring up things in favour of Kerry. Hard? Even at the stage of campaign? Yes, I know.

US had plenty of leaders that led the country to glory. Yes, the leadership potential has been low for the past couple of decades, it's been obvious. Even Kennedy and Reagan weren't as great as we like to think. But, dear Avatar, can you name a few of Latvian presidents that led the country to glory, not counting the current one? Hard, I know. Then shush about American presidents.

Well, in terms of pro-life/pro-choice, Kerry is necessary. But don't think that he will stop the war in Iraq as soon as he gets into office, and don't think that he'll start a war against someone we all blame for terrorism. Not much will change. Besides, he doesn't stick to his word during the campaign; what can you expect from him as President?

I love the way foreigners who know little about this country and who aren't really interested in it sit around and speculate (hint is obvious).
