    Im helping out my friend with this, so whats that white stuff on the picture?
    Picture is taken ~20.02 2002 in Estonia.
    It was found on a ditchbank, flooding calcium rich water.
    Even the phylum would be nice no know.
    edit: It can be fungi... but thats not sure.

    Bit of confusion here. It was found on the side of a ditch flooding the calcium rich water? Or the water flooding the ditch was calcium rich?

    You seem pretty sure that this is a plant, fungus, mold, lichen, or something of the sort...why?

    Looks like an egg sac to me, although one cannot see inside of it to know for sure. If the ditch had been flooded for a while and then the water level dropped, revealing eggs that had been deposited in the water, one never knows what dehydration or air elements might have damaged them.

    Then again, what do I know?
