has anyone ever heard of a short story where most intellegent creatures figure out faster-than-light travel when they have bronze-age technology however humans obviously didn't figure it out so when these other races discover earth they're amazed by our technology and we trade them glow sticks so they can use those instead of candles to light their interstellar spaceships? i heard of it from someone and want to read that- i dunno... if anyone has heard of it or can try to find it i am having no luck =(
Man, that story sounds like a retarded monkey wrote it. I hope Turtledove didn't write it, I actually like him as a writer. -ZERO MASS
Then you'll like the story; Shenzhou hit it. The Road Not Taken, Harry Turtledove, Analog, November 1985. Peace.
Are you sure that happens? The one I read ends with the aliens in a jail cell saying "omg we gave humans hyperdrives with their superior weapons, we're fucked"
I can only take partial credit. I am pretty sure that I would never have come up with it if Shenzhou had not remembered the author. I got to poking around; you should pick up his anthology, 3 x T, that includes his books "Noninterference", "Kaleidoscope" (which has this story), and "Earthgrip". :m: Peace.
