In the beginnning, there was the Ultimate-I. I yawned, waved my hand, and created many Mini-I's and a splendid abode in which they could roam. Then, they started quarreling with each other, caressing each other, and ignoring each other; they made many mini-them's and many abodes in which those could roam. I saw it was a marvelous show to watch. I, the Ultimate-I, placed the entire creation into one of those balls with snow. Once in a while, I shake the ball. Snow falls and I rejoice.

They are called the Calabi-Yau Manifolds and Orbifolds: http://www.damtp.cam.ac.uk/user/gr/public/qg_ss.html (although I think there are actually 24 dimensions, of which we see only (roughly, actually) three at a time - remember electromagnetism exists in three dimensions OR one. Switching would be alllowed. Think of a very fast fan with 24 blades rotating so fast you would see only three. This would explain why the eightfold path is so excruciatingly appealing, and God appears to throw not only dice, but also where you cannot see them. He does.
