Name one nation that is the core state if we are not?

As I've said, we have competition, but no superiors.

    Actually, no.

This is the old way of breaking countries up
There is a first, second, and third world.

This is the new way of breaking them.
There is also a hegemonic power, core countries, semi-periphery, and periphery.

The US has been the hegemonic power since about 1945... The British Empire was the hegemonic power before then.

When you hear people use terms like the “developing” world and “developed” world. That’s a lay system that isn’t used for anything but the public at large or media… it’s PC.

Frankly, these are just ways of analyzing the world though… They’re useful because they’re good at describing how international politics and economic work. But it doesn’t mean that any nation buys into it… it’s more that the system buys into them then they buy into it. If you get what I mean.

That's a contriction in terms... The hegemonic state is the head of the core states... the core states are over the semi periphery, and that is over the periphery.

Think about it... doe anyone compete to be the best third world country? No. You compete to be a second world country. Do you compete to be the best second world country? No. You compete to be a first world country. Then to the hegemonic state. The core of the core.

Karmashock . . . Because of marxists, hegemony has become a bad word among the general public. As you know, it is neutral. China is probably the largest country to give up the idea of being a hegemonic state. In the early 15th c, their fleet (far larger than all the European navies combined) reached east Africa--maybe further. It wasn't worth the cost to them. They pulled back into China. Japan has done very well under US hegemony. What is better than to have a cop on the beat who keeps trade routes open and does it for free?

Unless it is a bad cop. But being a bad cop is not in the interest of the country which pays for the cop.

First, I just told you... there is no center to anything but the core. It's like asking who who's the best guy on the factory assembly line. It's a question that just by asking it demonstrates that you don't understand how it works.
    ======================================
    Muhlenberg,
This is what the US is doing... we're the cop... and we don't even ask to be paid. If we walked away, then everyone would have to armor up... massive war.

    That makes heaps of sense!!
America didn't say why they were not giving fuck all money before "Tsunami victims robbed by their own governments" but now it is alright to say this is the reason? After it has happened! Because America had a time machine did they? I mean come off it, if that was the reason why are they not invading these countries to save the people from there government, that’s what they did in Iraq didn't they?

Not likely. Corruption in the West dates back as far as European history goes.

Uh, yeah. I can. Corrupt govts in the 3rd world are kept in power by US corporations and US govt pressure. Before the US, the UK filled that role.

civilisation started off in what is now the 2nd and 3rd world.

and i dont get exactly what your trying to point out. the third world was the first world a while back.

and Britain, France, the dutch etc. have fucked up, robbed and looted the majority of the third world and purposefullly made them poor and dependant.

where there is poverty there will be a lot of corruption and the rich will have a part to play in that aswell.
