Nah, it's a dark archon from Starcraft.
Oh man, they just patched that game, and I want to play. Too bad I lost my disc.

Yes Roman got it right, it's a Dark Archon. All the Sandworm heads I could find where too big.

You lost your disc!!! That must be agony! To have played Starcraft and to never be able to play it again...

    What is a believable alien?

Star Trek is different from Babylon 5 in that it wasn't planned out from the beginning. You could watch the show and the Spock character evolve from the beginning. Vulcans and Vorlons are both ENIGMATIC THOUGH. Vorlons had more to hide though since they were manipulating everybody.

The "which univers would win?" poll didn't include STAR TREK. i VOTED FOR B5 anyway since you mentioned it.

I preferred DS9 because Star Fleet had this sugar coated, goody two shoes style that sometimes made me wat to puke. Not developing cloaking technology when the Romulans had it. RIDICULOUS!!!

Im sorry to be so ignrant - but whats a Dark archon ?

Id say 1 that you can't think of as a human caracter, even though he-she-it must be a human actor..

I agree. Often sci-fi movies or TV shows do a great job with makeup and special effects when they create their aliens, but don’t really give them an ‘alien’ personality. Most of the aliens in Star Trek, for example, behave just like humans with a few behavioral quirks. Ferangi are just like humans, but greedy. Klingons are just like people, but like to fight and have really bad tempers. Vulcans are just like people, but not very emotional. I think The Borg and Species 8472 (or whatever the number was) are the only examples that I can think of in which ST aliens actually behaved in an ‘alien’ way.

Babylon 5 was a little better. The Vorlons and the Shadows both seemed to have motivations and psychologies that were wildly different from humans. I also recall a B5 episode where an alien diplomat came to B5 to conduct trade negations with the humans, only to have the agreement nearly fall through because the alien’s world view was so radically different that he couldn’t really understand human culture. Of course, they also had plenty of aliens who behaved just like funny looking humans.

Actually I tend to think of Europeans as the Borg of planet Earth.

Look at all of the cultures wiped out or assimilated in the last 500 years.

I wonder what so called Native Americans think every time they hear some Paleface on TV use the word HOMELAND. LOL!

Dark Archons kicked ass. It was great to steal a zerg drone or terran scv and then come at an enemy with all three races. Ahhh the joys of Starcraft. Is there ever going to be a 2nd?

There's already a thread on that topic:

    Starcraft 2

It died a long time ago.

yeah, those aliens were called Lumati, + they sealed evry deal by having sex. not to mention they couldnt listen to anyone , thought we were all inferior and assumd we were as bigoted as them towards our own race.

Was diferent but annoying, Im glad they never came back.

I sadly haven't seen any Babylon 5 episodes except for the movie featuring the Minbari-human war. That itself hooked me into becoming a B5 fan, but when it comes to things like the Lumati, I have never heard of them before.

Its just a shame that they couldnt be more imaginative with making up names for alien races - most of them end with an i (Lumati, Minbari, Drazi, Brakiri, Enphili etc) or with a s like most English plurals, or have no plural form (like the Narn). same with Star Trek.

Why would aliens only pluralise their names the same way we do? And they wouldnt all be 1 -3 syllable names either!

Foget the names, the very concept of humanoid aliens is a load of *beep*. When I was 5, and I saw my first StarTrek episode, I thought the Vulcans were a subspecies of humans (like blacks and whites). When I saw my first Minbari, I thought they were humans with some sort of alien symbiote attached to the heads (a bit like Tok'ra). Even StarWars has a load of humanoid aliens. I find it sickening.

Its funny how that no matter where the enterprise is in any universe it can still manage to look like it has just came out of the factory.

It also funny how they can stare straight out of the front glass of the ship in view of a sun.

    Whataloadashit.

The Enterprise gets regular overhauls, at the various starbases where it docks every few months. What amazes me is how Voyager always looked fresh out of dock, considering the amount of damage it took in dozens of episodes. The crew can't have an infinte supply of spare parts and alloys onboard, even if they can replicate some of them... at least, the ship's hull should have looked patched and jury-rigged.

The viewer on the bridge isn't just a window (like in Ten-Forward lounge). It's a computerised imaging system which automatically compensates for excessive brightness.

In Star Trek (TNG) it was explained in one of the episodes (called "The Chase" if memory serves) that all the species are derived from the same original template - which were then seeded around space. Hence the similarity.

    (Am I sad or what!!)
