Let me start this thread with a blood chilling scream...

    ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

    The hip-fade/rap fad...

I am not racist, but I also know that for the main part of this hip-hop music is coming from the black community.... aside from that, I would like to add this commentary:

I am not at all racist.... But why do we hardly see blacked skinned musicians play rock, country or other music, and be so popular in the medias eye?

Personaly.... I am sick of 9 out of 10 bars playing, hip-hop, rap or the other wise top 10 which either way, is all over played, horrid music....

Sure it has a so called "good beat".... but the day you catch me dancing to like that is the day I will inject drugs into my body with a needle....

For most parts of the world with some ecnomic value... all they are playing now is anything or everything considered hip-hop, rap or other so called music....

What ever happened to rock? Alternative.... and so on...

    But no....
It is not considered a top 10 hit song for a radio station unless it is played at a bar 8 times a day and people can dance stupid to it....

If you want to dance why not techno?
    else... why not DANCE music...

    but why rap... why hip-hop....

As I said already, I am not racsit... but whenever I go into work and "female" (note that female is in quotes) they are listening to some bull shit top ten station or else a hip-hop/rap/horrid pop station on the radio... I honestly wish to shoot myself when I hear these so called tunes...

Is this a question of music you can dance to when drunk.... or... music with real musical thought put into them....

Whatever happened to the music from Jimmie Hendrix.... or even B.B. King...

come on, I listen to all kinds of music, but recently music has been enetering the so called hip-hop fad....

It is the same beat over and over followed by stupid, random and even well planned rymths...

Recently, my local city has gotten a new radio station... ... ...

it is another hip hop station... but oh my god... they play a few OTHER SONGS the other station does not!

WHY ARE THERE NOT MORE ROCK, ALTERNATIVE, TECHNO or PUNK radio stations....

Do they make radio stations based on turn outs at local bars....

Alot of people fail to go to other bars becuase tunes are top tens...or whatever...

A hardcore rap fan is not going to go to a techno bar.... even if it has a low turnout....

But! the hip-hop fad... it is on the news always.... and any of you highschool kids cannot tell me that SOMEONE has talked to you about the TOP TEN or POP/HIPHOP fade.....

What is the deal with hip hop or anything related?

It is beats mixxed with lyrics....

    Nuff said...

Atleast in rock there is much skill involved in making a great solo for a single song..

Even in techo... alot of people do not give techno a chance, only becuase so far they have only heard crap.... but alot of good tunded techno and trap music can actully relate to classical music from the past.... I am not saying all tho... the techno/trance/whatever libary is VERY large... It is hard to find something you would like even if you hate techno/trance in general.

But rap... some rap is good.... but I find it hard to find rap that relates to everyday situations... unless you can of course be called "nigger".

Country... hel we all hate it...

Rock and Classical rock...... whats the deal... everyone atleast loves one rock song... why is it not played in bars more often?

I do not give a fuck if the bar you own is a dance bar.... less main-stream popularity and more tunes that do not use the phrase "hoe's are danacing with my blow, making me feeling like joe, I do not kill people at all, but I love to sing like I got no balls"

Again... I am not being racist.... white or black skinned... they both use the slang for "negro...", they both talk about murder, death and voilence, and.... so on....

My 3 day in advance reply:
I have not even come CLOSE to of said what I wanted to say, but I will try to reply ASAP...
I left before I could reply to anything, but I WILL GET AROUND to it.... asap

hah...you are talkin to the right person with me....for a start i'm 'mixed race' English/Afro.....and so can be open to both cultural art forms. and also my musical taste is extremely eclectic....and i mean that. i hve tapes which are complilation of the most diverse musics you can get.

how i approach music. well it is like a mask you slip on.......say i put on a tape and some cathedral choir music comes on...ok, it is very ethereal....most of the register is desined to be very 'transcendental'....you feel your head getting high...so i go with that. i dig that for what it is. yeah. i am not particularly judging it--cause i am not a fan of christian religion--i am respecting the skill and heart of the music

say i am listening to some old 30s tune. i can fit into that too.....and all forms, form Jimi, to Butthole surfers, to Lightning Hopkins, to Bjork, to Tom Waits, to classical Indian, to Gypsy, to Flamenco, to Irish, Mexican, Albanaian, Gospel,....you name it. on one condition. it has to be GOOD. heartfelt....what i cant stand usually is the corporatized crap you hear generally on the radio. you can tell it cause of the production-noise. you know those peopole in studios all givin the same fukin sound...samples etc. you can go through stations and hear that same drone. then you just might hit on an origianl station and spontaneously stop, cause of the better QUALITY

now onto hip hop. whys it so popular? cause it is a difference from before. its a new art form--though of course therer has been prototypical art forms like it in the past. the basics of it is that the rappers are rhyming....usually words that are cleverly put togther, speaking about--not love as such, but situation according to life for living in ghettos etc
now, i dont like rap when it is homophobic or sexist (the two always going togther)....but some shine through and they are erotic.

what your post tells me about you, is that you are somehow blocking yourself to listen to it for what it is. which is another branch of creative diversity. somehow you are feeling hostile to it. you should explore this feeling. get to the roots of it
i feel that many of us have rigid egoic boundaries. we cling to what we like and fear what we dont. The MEdicine for this rigidity has always been hallucinogenic inspiration. so i suggest you try that. take a pinch of somethging, get some GOOd hip hop, and then really experience it. then you'll DIG it, or FEEL it, as they say
it DOEs take skill--when its done good. have you tried to do it?

I agree, I've had a gutfull of hip-hop\rap type music, it's wannabe gangsters singing about "busting a cap in some whities ass" or singing about how super slick they are with the women. It's all the same shit...

hip-hop has been a thorn in the side of humanity since it's inception. not to insult black people. but R&B is much better than Rap.

haha...how can you insult balck people. do you imagine ALL black people like hip hop? also R&B is also black music

but to repeat. what you'll doin here is hating 'it'...tarring all of that art form with the same brush. might as well say ALL rock n' roll is crap or good. dont make sense. some is some aint.
but i feel you are closing yourselves to the good by judging it all bad. bit like the older generation of the beat rock and roll generation who hated the lot!...hehe...is you getting old....?

I totally agree with you. Every rap music I try to listen to is the same fucking thing. And the rap videos are all the same. Chicks in tight cloths dance to the same thing.

I dont know about the other posters but for me it's the fact the radio is saturated with this shit. Sure there are a few good songs every now again but when it takes up 50% or more of radio time people are going to complain. I listen mostly to metal but if that was all I heard on the radio I'd be complaining about that too, a bona fide whiner I am

hmmmmmmmm......this is my experience. our radio isn't saturated with hop hop, so i dont know what you mean.say i am listening to the most popular radio prog radio 1, yeah. most of it is pop....and the kind i told you , it sounds like a drone. like you can hear the forumularic BS production same-old throughout the so-called different songs. so...in THAt contaxt, when a hip hop tracks put on, it;'s like an oasis! ...not all but some, are erotic. cant you feel that?????....how mny here critting it are white?...mybe it's a black thang. but the riddims of hip hop can be VERy erotic. you have to feel your way into it.
the fact you CANT,m and seem hostile TO this art form tells me that you have a psychological block to it....for some reason
i am fully aware how you can feel miffed about gangsterism...listen, i also have to listen to many rappers homophobia and misogyny. but there are hip hoppers who dont do that
and sometimes..despite myself, when a riddim gets me, even when they are rhymin about gangbangin i jest cant help moiving with the riddim.......
what i WISH is that they used some of the powerful riddims they got to explore more deeper ways of relating that guns and hos and bling bling.....
and whose here complaining about seeing hot girls dancin on videos..?! what?...you wanna see half nekkid make male rock stars.....? that's ME.......!haha talk to me

I hate the "poor niggers are cool" culture. I especially hate the "let's worship poor niggers who become rich by transmitting their unintelligence to the masses". My solution is to go to raves. While the music is usually mediocre, tripping ut on E and dancing to a techno beat is much more enjoyable. While you guys might have friends who drive you nuts with hip hop music, at least you don't have stubborn co-workers who play country music all of the time. Suicide rates must have jumped when it became legal to play country music at work. This isn't the barely tolerable "country rock", this is full out inbred hillbilly three-chrod songs like "my dog died and my truck broke down". Anyway, I live in an area where hip hop isn't as popular probably because I live where 90% of the people are white. Music has really gone downhill. I get made fun of because the majority of my songs on my MP3 player are classic rock, alternative rock and trance/techno. You can't blame the bars and clubs though. They're simply meeting the demands of the idiot population. Just go to underground raves that have a good bar scene attached. While you might feel a bit uncomfortable among anarchist-obsessed people, hardcore goths and geeks, you will realise that they have more of a concept of reality than anyone else. Unfortunately, it looks like the rap and hip-hop fad is here to stay for a while. Brace yourself for more shit pouring out of the mainstream.

Put Beethoven, Vivaldi or Brahm together with any form of hip-gop and you can tell what is music and what is not.

what about with Rock, and pop, and jazz, and cuntry n western, and cajun, and zydeco, and Bluegrass, and flamenco, and ....get the picture

since the only radio station that did Jazz had to go all commercial, most of the radio progs are doing that Drone i've been on about. where there are more and more digital channels doing the same old shite. the other night i was 'driven' to classical FM....fukin MINDblowin it was. they was playing the top 10 viwers faves.

so you see, i CAN get into that. but think of all these other forms as part of OUR natrual diversity.......creative art forms. and thers good and bad in all of them. even classical music...or do you like ALL Brahms, ALL Mozart?

Of course. My genes are pure of african blood. It's only natural that I don't like hip-hop and rap. Carry on.

I'd say that if you go into a bar or anywhere there's music you don't like, leave and tell the owner why you are leaving. Also tell the owner that your friends don't like that type of music either and they won't go there until better music or different music is played. After enough people complain or stop attending his establishment he will either change or go out of business. The point is tell the owner what you think, without getting mad.

Its funny, I was driving home from work tonight and there was some guy on the radio doin his freestyle rhymin thing with his mate beatboxin along to it... and it sounded absolute crap.
All blackfellas think they have a genetic ability to rhyme. They dont. Most sound f**kin shit... However, when you finally catch someone who can rhyme and freestyle well... really well... it is f**kin awesome.
Saw this guy once at some drum and bass show, for the life of me I cant remember his name, but he was absolutely ripping it... to a drum and bass beat, which is basically a hip-hop beat, but way sped up... The crowd went insane, no-one in the room could believe what they were hearing. It seriously amped up the whole show for the rest of the night!

I guess hip-hop has one major attraction. Its accessable. Hip-hop is to blackfellas what trance, NRG and techno is to whites. Anyone can rhyme, not necessarily well, but rhyme nonetheless and in the process feel like they've made something. Just like anyone with cool edit and fruityloops can make a techno beat, same goes for hip-hop. You dont need to learn guitar for either. Just paste in your favourite samples. People say "but wheres the skill in that?" "anyone can do it" but they fail to see that that exactly the point. Its accessable self expression.

Dont judge any genre by what you hear on the charts. Charts are just a marketing system set up by the record companies. Personally I like Eminem, but I instinctively hate anyone wearing an Eminem tshirt. I guess thats the other major attraction of hip-hop. Coolness by association. I cant stand 50 cent, I cracked up when I saw his first album cover, I thought it was someone taking the piss out of the hip-hop scene... then I found out it was for real. Plastic coolness is a major commodity these days... and its just fuckin sad. Cypress, Ice T and the Beasties got it right, but that was back then...

What saddens me the most is that Classical music isn't played anywhere on any radio station where I live any longer but I do listen to it over the internet though.
