There are more invites than people who want them.

Kinda makes you wonder why they don't just do away with the invite system.

I was wondering what the deal with 50 invites was.

I guess I will follow suit...

Give me your email if you want an invite.

Like Quailman said, there are way many more invites than people want. I have 200 invites and I have given out 2. I ask people all the time if they want one, they either have one already, or they don't want it at all (usually people with AOL, haha).

I tried out Gmail Drive too, it actually works excellent. Even maps a virtual drive in My Computer so you can access it like a regular hard drive (sorta). Only drawback is the 10Mb (or is it 15?) file size limitation.

I feel bad for anyone who uses AOL, honestly I stopped using that a long time ago. What are they up to now AOL optimized 56, better and more reliable then ever.

AOL for Broadband! Specifically designed to bog down your entire broadband connection with huge unnecessary graphics and useless features so that it feels like good 'ol 56K! Also comes bundled with a false sense of security from our "full-system" online virus scanner! And if you order today, you can get AOL for only $24.95 a month, more than double the cost of similar services! What are you waiting for? Act now!

They're keeping it in beta so they have more freedom to do what they want.
You're probably right, but look at the number that site alone has distributed. Other sites have given away thousands as well. I think Google is just making sure there's enough invites for people who may want them.

I didn't say take it out of beta, just doing away with the invite system.
