I am interested in the arguments on why carbon is the most likely element as the basis for extraterrestrial life. I am familiar with the popular arguments (e.g. carbon's abundance, valence etc.) but I would like to read some published references. Would anyone on this forum be able to point me in the right direction? Thank you. P.S.
