    Hey guys,

What are your guys opinion on how the pledge is used in schools? Do you care? Any reasons relating to our current president? If not, why do you not care?

    Let me know,

    Night

The pledge is worthless. It is funny in some ways....think of all the millions of kids forced to stand and give a pledge to a flag like a bunch of drones. Though I hated it at the time so I guess its not so funny. It is an artifact from the days when patriotism was necessary. The 'god' part just makes it even more hypocritical and laughable.

I think it's silly to rule it unconstitutional. If a kid is truely offended by the word "god" (which I highly doubt), let them choose whether they say it or not. What harm is it doing anyways?

I think this thread is one of the most inane I have seen on Sciforums for a while. The original premise seems OK, but somehow its just degenerated.

Im sure it has its place somewhere, but i really don't think anyone needs to start every morning pledgin allegience to the flag.. 'cept maybe George. I went to a handful of schools growing up, and i dont remember having to say it at any of them on a regular basis other than the first day of school.. Except one.. we had to say the pledge every morning and then sing two verses of "my country tis of thee".. i hated that class.
