  5. I believe Xerxes may possibly have been holding out for Clive Owen to get the part...

Personally, I'm delighted with the choice. Craig may be an unfamiliar face to many, but he's a damn good actor, he'll make splendid Bond.

I saw him in Layer Cake. He was pretty good. I can seem doing Bond. Except he's a blonde.

He looks like a villain. Also, he doesn't have the bold eye the rest of the bonds had, imo.

  10. Well, Bond is supposed to be a trained killer first y'know but if you've only ever seen Craig from photo's, in action he can be as smooth as Connery ever was - actually got something of the voice about him as well without actually resorting to a Connery impersonation.

He did a thing for television a few months back called "Archangel", it was one of those old fashioned espionage type thrillers set in modern day Russia. Timing of the thing probably swung it for him casting wise but throughout this two parter y'could really see the man as Bond...

The Brocolli's must have seen it that way at anyrate.

Casting Bond is one of those things the producers can never win with, not at the onset. I mean, I skipped Brosnans first outing largely on my immense dislike of that awful Remington Steel shite he'd been doing in the states, but turns out to have been a bladdy good Bond critically and commercially with good cause.

It's probably always best to approach these things with the lowest expectation possible, at the end of the day y'can always tell if they've done it right by listening to the theme tune - if they get that right, it means they're actually paying attention to the details, means you get a good Bond film.

If they chuck it over to Madonna, forget it...

why are you using such a massive font? I thought you brits were supposed to be subtle.

As far as bond goes... the franchise has entered the star trek zone. By that I mean, it started as a new and interesting thing. Now, even the worst examples of their genre surpass them.

Even triple X was a better spy movie than the last few bond flicks so making him young isn't enough. I don't really care who replaces him, unless they seriously rethink the way they adapt these books and make the movies it'll just be more crap.

  15. Nature simply just blessed me that way, I'm afraid there's really preciously little else I can actually do about it. Is this better?

I believe he's compensating for something.

Since I'm an obnoxious American, I won't just leave the obvious insinuation hanging like that. Oh no, I'll explain exactly what I mean.

Although Hollywood has been on the forefront of dying people's hair blonde, i am sure that in this case they could try to attempt some reverse engineering and possibly turn a blonde into a darker variety of haircolour.

It has been done before I presume outside the world of hollywood. Maybe science can donate some of its expertise to hollywood so we can enjoy a non-blonde bond.

    Preferably not a redhead bond...svp.

  19. Well, interesting y'should ask me that y'see, there I was on Safari in Hindu Kusch, this would have been around July '43 and myself and Monty were flagellating and entire combine of wasps when all of a ....

    No.

Actually, I just pressed the buttons on the reply page and generally this is what tends to happen.

Alas, dear favourite Empire, all too true - nature cursed me to only have a twelve incher when even the likes of Tony Blair has a wanger as thick as a mutants arm....

Oh, curse the cruel Gods that toy with me as they would themselves for onanistic pleasure purely for their own sport!

  21. Em..... Taking a wild, stabbing guess I'd venture..... Freud, perhaps? He really was quite remarkably insightful that way y'know....

Congratulations, by the by, on reaching your landmark 1,600th post. Here, have the word xglynxypittle in Uptight Froth Sans Serif with my compliaments.

I think he will be a good Bond. Check out Layer Cake, the style he projects in that will transfer to Bond pretty well. Just my 2 cents.

at this point (unlike most movies) the actor is the smallest issue in the bond franchise.

The greatest actor that ever lived wont be much help unless they completely overhaul the way these flicks are adaptated and directed.
