    Hey everyone,

Do any of you play video games? If so, what kind of games do you play?... Do you Play Card and Board games on Yahoo, First Person Shooters, Role Playing Games, Classics like Pacman and Tron?

What appeals to you in the game?

I've been playing since Atari 2600... Space Invaders and an array of other basic games, till now... At the moment I play a game called "Battlefield 2" (BF2) on the PC. What appeals to me, is the realism of BF2 - The need for team work, the array of skills people have to aquire, the ability to use the vehicles, aswell as the promotions and awards people try to aquire...

I play a lot of games. Primarily, I play a lot of first person shooters (quake 4, Unreal Tourney 2004, Battlefield, etc)
Second on the list is driving/racing games like Gran Tourismo, Wipeout/Quantum Redshift, Project Gotham Racing... etc

I also play a HUGE number of emulators on a daily basis due to the fact that I carry around a laptop computer everywhere I go. I have a ton of mame roms (like ~7-800), and a ton of roms for alot of the older console systems (commodore 64, nintendo 64, super nes, nintendo, sega master system, sega genesis, etc).

I just enjoy the feeling of conquering games. I guess that's why they appeal to me so much.

I play civ4 . I played BF 1942 but I quit because my reflexes can't compete with a 13 year old thats been drinking jolt cola, after spending all day doing nothing. The strategy part was great though if you had a team working with you. Bazooka's were my weapon of choice.

I never got into BF 1942 - At the time my computer was crap and would take ages to load a map and the games were each far too short. I would have rather they lasted an hour so that you had a chance to get involved in the massive maps.

Heh-heh (leaning back in my rocking chair) I've been playing video games since Pong. My mom worked at a restaurant that was attached to a bar that had one of the first "Pong" games ever. The owner was a family friend and used to let us in to play it when it wasn't busy (back before this zer-tolerance bullshit). My brothers would always beat me. When Pong was finally released for home use, my dad was convinced that it was going to ruin the TV so he brought a screwed up little B&W from his TV shop home and let us play our brains out on that. (In later years, he also thought that the growling noise made by the tanks in Atari's "Combat" was destroying the speakers.)

I haven't seriously played a console in years, preferring the PC because I use it for other things as well. I had a friend's N64 stored here for awhile which I played. I found my old NES and played that for awhile before giving it to him for his birthday (his goal is to have one of every console made. I think he even has a Colecovision, Intellivision, and a Neo-Geo). He already conned me out my Sega and Sega Genesis years ago.

We have a couple of retro-boxes hooked up to the TV to play Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig-Dug, Q-Bert, Adventure, and an addictive little racing game that we call "Digital Crack". But for PC I've got Sims 2 University, GTA (every PC version released except the British one), Morrowind, Diablo 2 LOD, NFS Hot Pursuit, LOTR: Battle For Middle Earth, Pirates, Cultures, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. I tend to prefer open-ended, open environment games, or any game that has a sandbox mode. Sometimes I like to destroy, but sometimes I also like to just create.

For the record, if you ever go to the Tech Museum in San Jose, California, look for an Atari 800 on display with all the manuals and accessories and a ton of game cartridges and disks. It should be hooked up to an amber monitor and a (gasp!) 300 baud modem. It used to be mine before they actually asked me to donate it! (I gave it to them in exchange for an official spot on their "friends of the museum" list. Heck, I'm no glory hog.)

I love the old school SuperNes games like Donkey Kong and Mario Bros.
Not a whole lot can beat the N 64 Mario Cart.
I've recently developed an addiction to the Gamecube version of Super Smash Bros.
At one time I was into Halo a little, but I sucked pretty bad.

I mostly play FPS Games, Quake series, Half Life 1&2, Battlefield (Might grab a copy of Battlefield 2 one of these days) and strategy games, Warhammer 40k - Dawn of war, Age of Empires, etc. And of course racing games, those I like most are Destruction Derby 2, Wipeout 2097, Need for Speed 4 and Trackmania.

But in between, I like to get my old SNES wired up to play a bit Super Mario Kart and some of the other Super Mario Bros. games.

I've only recently started playing video games again, because I'm rolling in cash and need something to regularly spend money on.
I used to play neo geo arcades as a kid, then I went through a stoner playstation stage when I was 17-18. Since then I've toyed with friends xboxes and ps2s and shit but only recently bought an xbox for myself.

Halo sucks, talk about a stupidly overrated game.
It's just childish crap. Childish crap can be good in a fun game, but a game like that, which in some ways aims to be realistic, should be a little more mature and realistic. I hate the "clowning around" alien foes with their jerry lewis noises, so gay.
I generally hate FPS's, BUT I do like this hunting game, cabela's dangerous hunts, I picked up for 20 bucks, which is a fps. But it's the cool countryside and stalking elusive quarry which appeals to me. Just the fact it's about animals and the wilderness, there's not many games like that around.
I'd much rather a hunting game with a 3rd person view, set up like gta games, and the ability to buy and breed hunting dogs, that would kick ass.
Even though the hunting game I have is so far from perfect, I play it more than anything else, and I was expecting it to be shit. There was a 2 for $40 table, one of them was tony hawks underground 2 and it's a pretty new good game, then there was like fishing and shitbox racers and cabelas dangerous hunts so I went the dangerous hunts. It's awesome. Rhinos scare the shit out of me.

I like sports games, I'm disappointed in madden 06. But I like nba live 06 and nfl street 2. Brian lara cricket, fifa (even though I hate soccer in real life) etc etc are all pretty fun.

Like I said I used to love neo geo arcade machines as a kid, and recently I've gotten a cd with all of them on it so I've been playing that. Samurai shodown 2, fatal fury special, robo army, mutation nation, 3 count bout, king of the monsters 2... it's good shit.

GTAs are king though really. I used to love gta 1 and 2 on ps 1. I just thought it was such a cool idea, and I always envisioned a game that was like that but down on ground level behind the character. I saw that red hot chilli peppers video clip(californication) and said "yes! like that!" and then gta 3 came out and it was just exactly what I had dreamed about.
San andreas was just ridiculously great, I can't wait to see the next one.

Hey man, cool down.Have you played on Halo 2, thats pretty f*ckin cool. Call of duty is FPS, its a good game, when you aim, it actually brings the weapon up for you to sight down, that alone almost made it for me, the second one should be exallent!

Has anyone pre-ordered the Xbox 360? Whens its launch date in the states?

I quite enjoyed BF1942. I am considering getting BF2. Battlefield Star Wars was ok but nothing special.

I play too many computer games. At the moment I am playing a lot of Rome:Total War, World of Warcraft and some Half Life 2 DM.

I used to play a lot of half life TFC.

I have played a lot of rpgs, Balders Gate, Icewind Dale ect. Does anyone remember the Ad&d gold box set with Pools of Radiance?

Civilisation 4 is out now and when I can be bothered buying a dvd drive I will get that. The civilisation games are classics. Time seems to speed up when you play them.

I do like FPSs that sport a good degree of realism, but I can't stand it when they get so "realistic" that you have to spend so much time assembling soldiers and crap that most of your evening's shot (no pun intended) by the time you're ready to start the game. (I'm thinking Tom Clancy.)

Actually I prefer video games. They are excellent escapism and good for relieving stress.

Unfortunately I am argumentative, particularly when it comes to psuedoscience.
