Well thats not very high brow is it, this is supposed to be the arts and culture section. Try to be more cultured or at least try to be more artitic in the expression of your animal lust

Yes Me too I have done a good 6 years of life drawing I have also made polygonal breasts and asses and stuggled with the finer details of point waiting them for games. But I think its a bit like working in a ice cream parlour... eventually you are sick of the site of ice cream

    You what mate? calm down,
look every time you write something on one of these forums you are indicating that you want people to look at what you have written, other wise you could just write on some toilet paper and eat it. I would also like you to look at my pictures and animations (and yes they are all mine!) I hope this is not too much to ask.

If it is ....oh dear dont look, I'm not going to cry.

I am crying damn you... calm down!? how dare you!

ok, I'm calm. I totally thought you were pimping a site so I never made it past the mainpage. I guess thats a compliment in itself, it looks good.

I didn't really buy that this was a one man operation so call me impressed. Not only do you have good structural skills (in otherwords, you can draw) but it's well rounded. You show a good grasp of different media, I'm kinda surprised you don't have a job yet.

your site is, essentially, a good portfolio. My avitar also represents me well, I can be a tit once in a while.

    No problem
I guess thats the best compliment Ive had in a while.
Its pretty scarry not having had a job for such a long time, I am currently short listed for a job so fingers crossed.
Ive never managed to move out of the games industry, film and tv is a bit of a closed door.
The other thing that bugs me, is that I think I could have been a really good traditional comic artist/ illustrator but I sold my soul to the god of cgi and neglected my drawing skills.
Thanks a lot for the compliments guys means alot to me

thats interesting because in my experience you can't be a good cgi artist and neglect your drawing skills. Can you post a few nudes or still life sketches? you oviously understand proportion and composition in general so i think you may be selling yourself short in the drawing area.

Sorry its all A3 my life drawing, it wont fit on the scanner, I dont like it much anyway.
I did a comic recently off my own back and my drawing got loads better, but generally when Im doing cgi stuff I just do the odd working drawing, and the're not at all interesting to look at.

Ive worked in the games industry for a few years and in my experience most cgi artists cant draw for toffee even if they can texture really well. Technical knowledge seems more important to them, you get people who are half way between artist and programmer. I used to work with a couple of guys who had no artistic background, one definately used to be a programmer and had moved over to animation (he wasnt bad either)

Seeing as everyone was going on about breasts I did start a manga style babe with swords picture but I'm afraid its still lying on the office floor as I'm supposed to be finishing my short film.

actually, I meant you should have some drawings on your website. believe it or not, people hiring for cgi work still look for basic drawing skills. If you really don't think what you have is good enough, you should consider making at least one kick-ass sketch as a potfolio piece if nothing else. believe me, it makes a difference.

More and more the big companies are realising it's easier to hire good artists and training them in cgi than the reverse. If you can show you're a good artist that already knows the cgi world you'll have a serious advantage. A hand drawn image or two will help you stand out a bit.

anyway, thats just my opinion. good-luck on the job search.

btw - comics (which you said you're doing) and storyboards (which i assume you are making for your short) are a great way to excercise the drawing muscles. They are usually quite rough anyway so why not show all the best on your site.

The life drawing thing was just a rumor, only big studios take an interest, its actually a handicap when applying to games, I found out after getting jobs that they were worried when looking at my portfolio, they thought, and I quote "I was too arty"

For a while there was a trend for hiring traditional animators and I am the only person I know who got hired with no cgi experience (no computer experience too I had to learn to use the mouse) but there has been a back lash I have seen a lot of posts saying how 2d animators cant learn cgi (which is guff obviously)

as to sticking it on my site theres a back log of stuff to go on there. I'm probably a better trditional sculpter than I am a draughtsman or an animator, but I have no representation of that.
I am concentrating on finnishing my film at the moment hopefullly this will be the master stroke in promoting myself.

You should see my story board I am sure you would laugh, I did it in 10 minutes
