it stopped allowing me to do a "new posts" search, or a "find all post by cato" search. which are the two most common ways I watch threads I am interested in. does anyone know why? if profry cutting ties with google by removing their search?

 

Those aren't google searches. Those are searches by the forum software. I'd guess that he's cutting down on accessing of the database. I don't know the mechanics of forum software, but that sounds like the case to me.

I hope that he puts that paypal button back up.

Obviously the money situation isn't the root cause. The root cause is probably exhaustion for a project in which he's having a lull of interest. He used to be excited by it, now it's just a pain in the ass. I'm sure the money situation will help, but I don't think that's really what's annoying him the most. Ass pain for squat reward yields indifference - and this thing will never be a "cash cow". Running this forum is a labor of some cash, and mostly love. If the love is gone, so is the motivation I'd imagine. Meh. Hopefully he'll eventually remember why he loves this place, as do many of us. If not, I hope he hands it off to someone who does rather than pulling the plug.

And yeah, disabling the "new posts" search is harsh. I hope it's not a message.

Porfiry, you should use the mob to your advantage.
See how easily influenced it is? Now, for instance, if there was a particularly annoying neighbour of yours you could easily get rid of him, by directing the mob his house as if you lived there, but before disabling posting more than 3 posts a day, i.e., set fire to the petrol.

Hi, I don't know exactly where to post this, but have been looking for two old black and white science fiction movies from the 1950's, they were really cheezy movies, but wouldn't mind seeing them again.Have no idea what their titles were, but both involved college kids and beings from outer space.

 

That is hilarious! Talk about out of context! Here is a bunch of geeks trying to piss off the owner of this site and suddenly someone jumps in outa nowhere and is treating it like his own personal google... surreal!
