Personally, I think it's wrong to interfere with the body's natural functions, hair growth included. On the other hand, there are certain functions such as body odour and hair growth in certain areas of the body that one can be expected to alter or prevent as a result of our societal expectations. In a perfect world, we wouldn't frown upon women with hairy pits and legs, but that's overly optimistic thinking considering our current state of affairs.

It's a bit annoying the trend towards fully waxed bodies (for both sexes.) But then I say, it's your time/money, do what you like.

Either way, body hair isn't necessary with the advent of climate control.

Hahaha, very true. I tend to take a utilitarian approach to most things as well.

I don't wear make up or do anything to my hair. The only time i really wear formal is when I play in concerts. And to the prom and such.

I prefer sleek, smooth women. I hate getting hair in my teeth.

I've never shaved. I think it's just a waste of time. Anyone who wouldn't like me just because I don't shave isn't someone who I'm likely to even want to like me.

I agree with that last statement. See, things have a way of equalizing and evening themselves out.

Whatever you personally are comfortable with, just be yourself. There are people who are attracted to others who are fat/skinny/hairy/smooth/smart/dumb and any other attribute anyone cares to name. And there are also those who finds one or more of those absolutely repulsive. Big deal.

More power to you, Allisone. I'm a man and I don't shave, why should women be forced to? American women have shaved their armpits since before even I was born, so I'm just used to it. But they've been shaving their legs for just as long and I realized that wasn't necessary long ago.

As for this new thing about shaving off all of their pubic hair. I haven't seen it except in pictures, but personally I find it utterly revolting. I can't imagine how I'd react if a woman took her pants off and that's what was underneath. I also can't imagine how uncomfortable and degrading it must feel to go through it. If somebody asked me to do that I would kick them in their own pubic area. This is a form of oppression that American men have inexplicably adopted from Mideastern men, and to quote Bob Newhart: "Stop it!"

    Real men lick carpet.

Before razors, hairy was the norm. I don't mind a little hair, but too much and it seems primitive. I wouldn't go out with a cave woman. Also, I hate armpit hair, for some reason I can't explain, it is repulsive.

i think that this might be the most amusing bit of incoherent rambling nonsense i've ever read. are you trying to pick a fight, or are you just
    that rediculous?
woo hooo, "roleplaying cage"? there's nothing of that sort in my basement. that's where my little brother lives.

and all the rest of you out there, what is so wrong with girls not shaving? i want a serious answer, and not "because it's icky". i want to know what the turn-off exactly is.

If I'm ever in the mood to floss on some pubes, I'll contact you women here.

Seriously though, I can't stand pubic hair, it's nasty. I don't mind the soft peachfuzz on backs, arms, and whatnot, but when it comes to an area that has been shaved JUST ONCE, you need to continue shaving FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE cause it'll never be the same as untouched peachfuzz. I don't like prickly hairs on areas I love to touch and I'd rather you not grow it long enough to where it's no longer prickly but soft as you'd wind up having more hair on ya than a sasquach. And hey, this applies to guys too for the women out there as well.

If girls don't want to shave, fine with me, but I won't be asking them for dates or, likely, associating with them.

What's the turn-off? Other than it's also ugly as hell, I don't like hair in my mouth!

I like the way you said that, as if it would be some kind of loss to those women

Most of the remarks made in this thread, are pretty damn rude, and way out of line. Some of you should be ashamed. Sure, you may prefer women to have little or no hair body hair, thats fine, but why get so personal?, a little respect is needed.

Well said Star_One; you've summed things up nicely.
    Now, back to the topic.
Shaving is not the only body modification behaviour that women (and men) have come to practice, and claiming that it's 'not natural' is a pedantic argument. I wonder, allisone417, if you use moisturizers, skin creams, shampoos, hair products, perfumes, tan, work out, wear a bra, etc., as all of these would also be 'unnatural'.
Body modification is not merely a socially-directed phenomenon; we practice it because we can, and we choose to.

I agree with Nysse that it is not so much a social rule, it is simply preference.

Isnt shaving also one of those thing women do to feel secure about themselves???

How do lesbians like there women????

    Nysse- Why is God dead???
