    Which one?

Not in my experience. Racists generally lack empathy, and so are afraid of other people. People who are not racist understand that racists are emotionally stunted individuals. They are to be pitied, not feared.

I agree, though I would like to just bash the sense into them somehow.

Isn't that just the sort of thing that racists claim about others? ...and yet you make the similar and imply that you and people like you are above all of that? Isn't that attitude what we usually call self-righteous?

Not at all. I have never heard a racist claim that another person is emotionally stunted. Have you? I don't think they understand the concept.

Yes. And justifiably so in this case.

Funny…the men in the photo that was used by the UK papers didn’t look particularly white to me…

'Perhaps most striking is that community leaders and sociologists are viewing the riots, at least in part, as a local manifestation of the broader ethnic troubles linked to the global fight against terrorism.'http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/19/AR2005121901801.html

The UK also had similar riots, but with different groups http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_midlands/4367654.stm

In the end it all points down to rising resentment over jobs and money.
