Thinks to himself, "Wonder if being half cluster lizard and half love slave con-
tributes to a sublimated masochism? Interesting, but not worth pursuing."

    Chagur:

    I reply to you, don't I?

And who said anything about sublimated? You think I would bother with your tripe if my cat o' nine tails were not -

*Xev realizes that she is crossing 'a line' and shuts up*

So, are you going to reply to my questions?

That's more or less correct, people are mostly killed for reasons of power, although religion can be a motivation.

However, athiests have never truely been in power, the only exception perhaps being the USSR, perhaps Communist China, but I do not think so.

you can't really say that because athists don't really go jumping around about it like religouse people do. Thats just an observation of mine but you can't say that athists are any less substable to the lowers of power than belivers in ANYTHING are

    Xev,

    My turn to advise.

Chagur is really a nice guy and is essentially a big softie, but he loves to make out that he is really really cynical. So go easy on him since he is also really really old.

Aww, Cris, I am just teasing him.

Judging by his 'woman issues', Chagur is rather 'advanced in years'. It would be neither sporting nor honorable to 'flame' him.

Besides, Gene Ray has put me in a rather good mood:

I love this guy! I'm going to drop all my 'cubeless' classes tomorrow!

Asgaurd: You're right, we athiests are no better at handling power than thiests. However, this is a fault of human nature, not athiesm.

Would you also admit to the OPOSITE of that statment?

That it is peoples desire for power and NOT there religouse belifes that cause the wars (most of them, i admit a few times people really have just gone out to "kill the infidels")

    Asguard:

Wars are caused by many things.

Intolerance of different religious beliefs is one of them, and often contributes to the chaos and brutality of war. War is not always or even often soley about religion, but religion is often a contributing factor.

As i have said before religon is often a weapon of choice but very rarly the actual cause. To find the real cause you have to look benieth the surface. FOr example when the catholic church had power in the middle ages it went to there collective heads. So they did ANYTHING to maintain that power, and religon was an oviouse weapon against those who threatend that power. Yes religon can be dangerse but it is because it can be hijacked the same way germanys political system was hijaked by Hitler

I have to disagree with you there Asguard....

People with very strong religious beliefs often seek to impose them on others. Obviously you understand that much

But, taking the thought further.... is not the imposition of your religious beliefs on others just another form of power? All they want is for the whole world to follow their religion, which in itself is power to the nth degree, ie. You agree with me, therefore "I am not only right, but the one who taught you how to be right."

damn... how hypocritical of me to say that

im not sure what you mean.

When i say power im talking about politic power mainly, the power to control anothers life and how the live.

If you are saying that i convert you by the sword so i can then have power over you then i surpose you are right but if thats what you mean then you are invalidating Xev's point because Russa DID convert by the sword (to athism). It forced people to give up there belifs

In Russia it wasn't seen as a religious matter. Marx and Lenin both saw Christianity and religion in general as stupid ideas and a waste of time. However, the reason they wanted to get rid of religion was not because they hated it, but because in their theories, Communist could not work with Christianity in place.

No! They did not convert to athiesm, only to the athiestic religion of 'State Worship' - (my term) - 'Marxist-Leninism'.

Tyler is right (I love you Tyler!), Marx and Lenin thought that religion was stupid and would get in the way of communism. Lenin and Stalin saw that worshipping a God would get in the way of worshipping a state, or practically worshipping Stalin and the Party.
