    Gay extermination

Tiassa, You seem to be working under the assumption that this story is about IRAN--it's about IRAQ (the people the US freed from the tyranny of Sadam Hussein).

    Lobbying Should Be Illegal....!!!!!

I'm sick of SciForums and people who really can't read. I say And you read this as saying I believe it's Ok "selling legislation for money." Sorry for trying to give a more complicated and realistic perspective on your fantasy about banning all lobbying.

    Lobbying Should Be Illegal....!!!!!

Well the important issue for a congress member is not the truth (let's be realistic) it's how his or her constiuents will take something. And congress members don't represent the American people, no matter what they might claim--they represent the district or state that voted for them (and, in...

    Cyber bullying: Technology and McLuhan

But there are new aspects to it created by the anonymity that the net provides. In this case, for instance, the bullier wasn't even a student but rather the mother of another girl who was pretending to be a teenage boy online & the school wouldn't have been able to anything even if they could...

    Lobbying Should Be Illegal....!!!!!

It's not only corporations that lobby. Unions lobby, organziations that are focussed on issues like the environment lobby, etc. Also in many cases if there is one corporation or industry group lobbying for an issue then there is another lobbying for the opposite (for instance while the...

    Patient- vs Clinician-Reported Outcomes

I'd say both are important but the relative importance depends on the outcome you're trying to evaluate. For instance, I read an article recently on patient & clinician ratings of the reasons why people in drug abuse treatment relapse. The reason most often mentioned by the patients was...

The convenient hypocrisy of Republican Christians

But you can't still can't read. Look at the damn posts & look at the original thread: http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=68611&highlight=kind+freakshow But you won't because you really don't care about what was said. Play your power games. And I will ignore you in the future.

The convenient hypocrisy of Republican Christians

I suggest you read her comments including the one below. She is against all immigration and has expressed a dislike for immigrants (particularly Latino ones) in a number of posts. The problem I see with a lot of the rhetoric about illegal immigration is that it is just a cover for a dislike...

The convenient hypocrisy of Republican Christians

So we should just ignore all your comments about LEGAL immigrants (as quoted above)? Yeah you're probably right--come to think of it I should just ignore everything you say since you appear to speak out of some other orifice than your mouth.

The convenient hypocrisy of Republican Christians

Sorry but how do you explain the long series of quotes I provided that were about all immigrants (and in the context of that thread are clearly seperated from her posts about illegal immigrants). Sandy may say a lot of things but I don't have to believe it just because she says it. As for...

The convenient hypocrisy of Republican Christians

No you repeatedly slam immigrants (regardless of their immigration status) but then try to hide behind the claim that you really only dislike illegal immigrants (a strategy that's unfortunately all too common). Here are some of your quotes about LEGAL immigrants (and this is just from one...

    I quit!

Since you no longer miss it, this is probably unnecessary advice but I recommend chewing toothpicks. I did that for a couple years after smoking and still do when things are stressful. Other than an occassional splinter there's really no health risks involved.

The convenient hypocrisy of Republican Christians

The Republican hatred of Latinos appears to be based not on self-interest but good old-fashioned racism (or nativism if you prefer). What's bizarre is that Latino immigrants are often rather socially conservative and many are moving from Catholicism to more conservative protestant denominations...

    Personal Responsibility

In psychology it's called the bystander effect. The research to support its existence is fairly old and was done by Latané and Darley: From http://changingminds.org/explanations/theories/bystander_effect.htm There has been some work since then that has refined our understanding about...

Murderer was Follower of Most Wicked Man

As much as I agree that his fundamentalist Christian background may have been a problem for him, I think you're overstating the dangers of it. It doesn't always destroy.
