Math descriptions
Math describes any systematic system. It may or may not have anything to do with the universe (ours). There's plenty of math describing Flatland, e.g., which is like a sheet of paper with zero thickness. Does something with zero thickness exist? If so, it exists only in...
Superstring gravity
According to string theory, the gravitron is one of the string modes in which the negative mass caused by its vibration exactly cancels the huge energy/mass caused by its tension, and the shape of the vibration causes the gravitational effects between other particles...
Multiverses, & friends
Here is a nice summary, up-to-the-minute, almost, of multiverse theories.

They are all rather speculative, but some are somewhat testable, and something of the sort may...
Particles, etc.
Nanok & Crisp..
It gets even worse than that. There are no ultimate "particles". In QM all particles are instances of field effects; at base, only fields exist. To be crude, only twitches of space-time+ which persist and interact.
So there are no ultimate billiard...
Parallels
Banshee;
I am quite familiar with parallel universe speculations...I've read quite a bit by Penrose and Wheeler. Here are some interesting links, too: http://naturalscience.com/ns/books/book02.html

Questions
Fair comment.
1) Locating and specifying orbit, etc., is much easier than you think. A radio emitting planet would be a very clear, distinct point source. Computing orbits is well within the capacity of even a simple computer. The missile would have a receiver/sensor which would...
2 issues
Black holes and Big Bangs are unrelated.
Mass falling into a black hole is not converted to energy. Both energy and mass entering a black hold add to its mass.
The Big Bang does not require that the matter/energy it generates does not "come from" somewhere. It is spontaneously...
Moving Spots of Light
James R....
Exactly. And no information can be transferred between two points on the moon or, say, between two stars by having an illuminated spot swing between them.
I don't know how fast the scan point on a CRT screen can move, but regardless of such "apparent"...
Powers
No, Banshee. That's 10^16, not 10-16. That means 10,000,000,000,000,000 days. It's called scientific notation. It can also be expressed as 10E16, where E refers to "exponent".
:)
I agree
Sort of. But read the novel; it's a fun read, and the technology explained in it is real, and only slightly ahead of our time (like Pioneer;) ). It ain't so hard to do.
Read and understand
Read the whole thread, Banshee. The technology to produce a missile that moves at 92% of lightspeed is not much beyond present capabilities. I am just acting as "advocate" here for Pellegrino, Powell, and Asimov's analysis of Alien Behaviour. To keep it simple, anyone can...
