Hmm, I don't know for sure. But I don't think so! I think it's two different religious groups, Sunnis and Shiites, who are killing each other out of revenge and hatred. Can one call that "civil war"?

In Los Angeles, the two groups, the black gangs and the Mexican gangs, are fighting and killing each other out of revenge and hatred. Is that, too, a "civil war"?

One of the problems that I see in calling it a civil war in Iraq, is that I've seen nor heard anything about the political aspirations or goals of either group.

Is it "civil war" just because a few of the radical people of the two groups, religious groups, are fighting and killing? What percentage of the people must be involved in the conflict in order to call it a "civil war"? If just two people are fighting, can that be called a "civil war"?
