I should've been selling rope, cords and piano wire, in addition to guns, knives and proton packs.

Hoping to anticipate future business trends the Gun Shop Proprietor decides to also sell an odd assortment of hockey masks, chainsaws and axes.

Mafia - DAY 6 (midday)

At lunchtime today, the Bodyguard (skaught) took a walk along Main Street, past the travel agency and the town square, and round the corner opposite the Plazma Times building. Thinking he might want to upgrade his weaponry, he decided to drop into the Gun Shop to see what was available. As it happened, the Editor (nietzschefan) had the same idea at around the same time. Meeting on the street, they both went into the gun shop, noticing as they went in that a yellow Taxi was parked out front.

Inside, the gun shop was a mess, with guns apparently swept off their racks and shelves and littering the floor. Clearly, there had been a struggle.

The body of the Taxi driver (domesticated om) was lying in front of the counter, practically in the middle of the floor, covered in blood. The driver was clearly dead - shot through the heart and peppered with pellets from a shotgun.

The gun used to kill the taxi driver was quickly found. It was held tightly in the hands of the Gun shop proprietor (phoenix2634), who was lying behind the counter of the shop, half propped up against the wall.

The gun shop proprietor managed barely to lift his head to look at the Editor and the Bodyguard. He seemed to be trying to speak to one or the other of them, but no words would come. Instead, he only managed to cough up blood. Both would-be shoppers couldn't help but notice the large hunting knife sticking out of the Gun shop owner's chest.

The Editor ran out to see if he could get help, while the Bodyguard ran to the phone to call an ambulance. Unfortunately, the Gun shop proprietor was too badly injured to hang on to life for more than a minute or so. Prior to finally being stabbed through the chest, he had clearly being slashed with a knife across the face and stomach. He died before a piece of paper could be given to him to write down the details of his murder.

In time, the Police Officer (Betrayer0fHope) arrived on the scene. From the layout of the room and positions of the bodies, he suggested what might have happened. Apparently, somebody came into the gun shop and attacked the owner with the knife that killed him - an apparently viscious attack. But the gun shop proprietor had a shotgun under the counter and he managed to pull it out and fire it.

But some questions remain: Did the gun shop proprietor shoot his attacker? Or was the Taxi driver simply in the wrong place at the wrong time? Perhaps the real killer of the gun shop proprietor ran away, while the innocent taxi driver was an unfortunate victim. The Police cannot be sure.

On hearing of these violent events, the remaining townspeople are eager to rid the town of any remaining mafia. They prepare for this afternoon's vote...

---

The Gun Shop Proprietor (phoenix2634) and the Taxi Driver (domesticated om) are now both DEAD, and can play no further part in this game.

The following people remain alive:

Police Officer (Betrayer0fHope)
Village Idiot (unixgeek13)
Casino owner (USS Athens)
Bodyguard (skaught)
Newspaper editor (nietzschefan)

Today's town vote will go ahead as normal, at the previously indicated time.

It can now be revealed that the Gun Shop Proprietor (phoenix2634) was a member of the MAFIA.

The Taxi Driver (domesticated om) was NOT a mafia member.

so...

the mobbed up mayor took my job away and gave it to B0H... because the mayor wouldn't want a "townie" like me being able to investigate folks...

then it would stand to reason that he would give that power to somebody that he didn't fear... like another mafioso...

so...

vote: Betrayer0fHope

no hard feelings .....

remember... the other time that the mayor swapped somebody's job, innocent Enmos lost his cool doctor jacket and stethoscope and swapped jobs with the mob girl, inzomnia...

Grr.. I had nothing to do with the switching of the roles. Me and Enmos strongly opposed them switching the roles, and Enmos turned out innocent. I am not a mafia member :|.

Vote: No Arrest

for now

it was Asguard's thinking at the time that matters. and he was mob.

just calling it like I see it...

riddle me this batman... why would Asguard have given the power of police officer to another townie?

Inzomnia, who is now a known mafia member(and I had been calling for their heads the entire game), said he had to appoint me or he would be arrested. I don't really know what they were planning, clearly it didn't work out. Maybe they were trying to force a vote against the cop, and at the time of appointing me it was unanimous that I was a townie, so making me a cop would make them seem less guilty. There was some other thing I was gonna say but I forget it now. Oh yeah, by appointing me, if he was ever discovered it'd seem as if I was mafia too because he appointed me.

DAY 6 is about to end.

I have not heard from nietzschefan about whether he wants to force the vote today.
And again, USS Athens has not put anybody on CCTV.

Only two out of five people have registered a vote, and one is a "No arrest".

Mafia - DAY 6 (twilight)

It is a small town meeting this afternoon.

Only the Police Officer (Betrayer0fHope), the Bodyguard (skaught) and the Village Idiot (unixgeek13) turn up for the vote. The Editor (niezschefan) and the Casino Owner (USS Athens) are absent.

Nobody is on CCTV today, by choice of the Casino Owner. The Police Officer has not announced the result of any investigation he carried out today.

Some may wonder why the remaining townspeople are not using the resources they have to find out who the mafia are among them...

The vote is quickly taken:

Betrayer0fHope: 1 vote (unixgeek13)
USS Athens: 2 votes (Betrayer0fHope and skaught)

The Police Officer (Betrayer0fHope) slaps the cuffs on the Casino Owner (USS Athens) and he is removed to the remand centre.

---

The Casino Owner (USS Athens) is provisionally ARRESTED.

However, it will not yet be revealed if the Casino Owner is a member of the Mafia, because I have not heard from the Editor (nietzschefan) as to whether he wants to use his power to determine the public vote today.

---

Casino Owner (USS Athens): You may NOT talk to other players, either in this thread or by PM if you are mafia, unless and until I announce that you have been freed from prison and somebody else arrested.

Editor (nietzschefan): Please send me a PM telling me if you do or do not wish to alter the town vote today.

NIGHT 6 will start:
(a) as soon as I hear from the Editor, one way or the other; OR
(b) at approximately 3 September, 8 am UT, if I do not hear anything.

In the meantime, this thread will remain open. The town vote stands unless the Editor changes it, so townspeople may not change their votes for today. However, a Police investigation can still be done, if you like.
