Amsterdam's Arena Residential Tower, or A tower, designed by Amsterdam-based Wiel Arets Architects will be the tallest residential building in the city once it's completed in 2010. Construction on the 150m, 382-unit, 47-storey tower is due to begin in early 2008.

It will be situated in Amsterdam south-east, Zuid-Oost, directly on the Arena boulevard, and next to the Arena stadium, which is a large-scale business and entertainment district dominated by infrastructure and wide boulevards.

Roche, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, is redeveloping its headquarters campus in Basel. As part of the redevelopment they are constructing a new tower, which is set to be the highest in Switzerland.

The architectural company chosen to design the new tower was Herzog and De Meuron (the Basel practice of Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron). The new tower will embellish the redeveloped campus and provide a bold statement from Roche and an icon for the city with its futuristic architecture, becoming a new Basel landmark.

The Opus is a freehold office block with an AAA-class rating with up to 87% space efficiency. It is being constructed on its own island site within Dubai's Business Bay District – an 85,000m² development that will form the centre of the emirate's booming business sector.

The groundbreaking structure will be a symbiotic mix of technology and art, creating a structure that has been designed to resemble a cube with a fluid form void in the middle.

In actual fact the project is made up of three separate towers that are fused to create the illusion of one single structure.

Seems like a lot of these designs are based on amorphous shapes...as if coffee was spilled on a table and the shape of the puddle copied.
