The human brain is wonderful place, but it cannot hold the universe in it so never ridicule it when it asks a dumb question:

    How do I do that?

The question, Gendanken, is how did you get at the stage where you are notified of this thread by email. Do you receive notifications of all threads in sciforums? Every post in Free Thoughts and other forums? Just this thread? I'm not entirely sure how to turn it off. I don't get email notification of any thread. But, I'm assuming that either you subscribed to Free Thoughts (which seems to me would flood your inbox with useless posts) or you subscribed to this thread in particular. You should be able to shut them off in your control panel. List subscriptions. You can modify whether you want to be notified by email for a particular thread that you are subscribed to or merely delete the subscription. If you're subscribed to the forum... I'm not sure how to deal with that. I just tried subscribing to free thoughts, but it doesn't show up anywhere. I set it to not notify me by email. I hate email... Maybe after I post this it'll show up in my control panel somewhere. Anyone else know?

    Turning off e-mail notification:

    click preferences
go to "edit options" in the left

    locate the part that reads

Default Thread Subscription ModeWhen you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

Choose the "do not scubcribe" option. Should that fail, then pick "No e-mail notification"

    Hope that helps

I can't believe we not only made it, but bypassed it. However, it feels both sad and fitting that the 1001th post was "Ya wanna taste yer bellybutton lint cuz yer hungry"
