    Neither of those would be sufficient, unless the cube was also a perfect vacuum (else there would be some, if incredibly insignificant, loss of luminosity due to particulates in the air)

    We, siblings and I, used to set up triangles of mirrors and put a candle in the middle - around Christmas, usually. You could look in through the open roof and see this huge cave with lights into the distance.

    The complete closure of the box would make it even bigger, compared with it's outer size - vertigo inducing.
