the modern human world of the last 200 years, including the majority of ALL human technology is built using dinosaur snot(oil)

all hospitals all schools all government buildings
    all built using plastic

can you make a bacon sandwich without using plastic ?
    probably not

    probably worth mentioning
plastic science has been going for a few decades

    finding an alternative
    in a money comparison
would require a trillion dollar investment
and good luck trying to NOT have that money scammed & stolen in dead end projects like all those usa private military budgets

if you collected all the working class tax money paid to private military companys for dead end R&D projects
you could probably afford to buy every single USA citizen a new tesla car

I thought the problem was that plastic is already waaaaaaay too affordable - we can afford to use plastic for everything and then just throw it away.

Well at least I know I’m on the ground floor here. I’m just going to heat up paint acrylic and gel hand sanitizer until I figure out what that makes.

Are acrylic paint and hand sanitizer dirt cheap where you come from?

the fallacy of supply & demand capitalism as some type of natural regulatory process
    lol

its like saying that making laws to define ownership of land & goods is a waste of time because the strong will define the natural order

but supposedly thats not a balanced way of applying the supply & demand model
as if some groups demand superior rights enforced by an elite armed group who extort taxes off the poor and weak

the entire moral debate is soo twisted its fairly pointless
    the system is immoral
    money has no morals
most peoples morals directly relate to how much wealth they have
    the more money they have
the more they demand others obey them and do what they tell them
that is the mental illness of the religion of greed sold as capitalism

Pretty sure Beaconator won't be making plastic affordably by buying the ingredients retail.

Then again, who knows what he means by "affordable".
    Or "plastic". Or "making".
    Or "of".

OK, so you're talking personal use - not on the scale of a commercially economical business. You're not fixing the world here, right?

That sure would have been a good thing to clarify in the opening post.

If the Dollar Store can make a profit from them, presumably they're pretty cheap wholesale.

I could buy things I need retail and melt them but that is kind of cheating...
no I’m going to fix the world by selling pillows made with expensive ingredients found in cigarettes

    expanding foam would be easy
but mixing it correctly in the expansion stage would be highly technically difficult to maintain equal density

i think there was some fungus's being trialed for this as a commercial model

    bubble extrusion ?

then you can mix n match your own ingredients

    did you mention "easy" ?

    hot glue guns & 3D printers ...

That’s making things from plastic... not actually acquiring the ingredients to make plastic.

I'd say, considering how forthcoming you've been in what you're actually asking for, I'd say you takes what answers come your way and be grateful about it.

Nobody knows what you want. I'm getting tired of guessing, so I guess I'm out.
