An Anonymous Forum

I propose an anonymous subforum, wherein all posters are anonymous. It would make for some interesting discussions.

Some people, apparently, find it boring.

I've always figured that if you're afraid to be identified alongside your principles, you should probably re-evaluate those principles. Sure, there are irrational bigots out there, but it seems to me that they would benefit the most from being able to hide themselves.

Besides, among the foremost echelon of our posters, how anonymous would it be? Is Asguard going to spell words differently? Will Madanthonywayne drop his familiar arguments? Will Max come out of the closet? Will I suddenly write short posts with a bunch of misspelled words? Will Draqon start writing long posts that make sense? Will S.A.M. become a premillennial dispensationalist? Will Buffalo Roam ... er, never mind. What about you, James—will you start sharing your favorite recipes for pot roast, or chicken and rice?

The reason why anonimous forum would not work is because even though the members would be anonimously represented in such a forum, the moderators would know each member by face because of the same IP addresses. Now, maybe an algorithm to hide and anonymyze everyone was created for forums...such a method most likely exists. But is sciforums that smart to instigate such technology? I doubt it. The current v bullet software is way too simplistic for such a function. So making other anonimous in this forum would probably hurt the members even more as a result of moderators sharing who is who with themselves and their buddy members. The Sciforums' godfather James would pick Ben and Tiassa as his close sons and give them the information who is who in this anonimous forum.

Since the days the Gods have risen their reign of chaos upon the trembling insecure members of Sciforums...since those days, graveyard in the "Ban List" land have opened its gates to all the outspoken standing up for their beliefs members...

And rivers of blood Styx flowed through forum...

well for regular members it is anonymous, for moderators...it is not. So vote...vote...dont be afraid...until some moderator puts you in a black book of complayning unfaitful members.

Too easy to support yourself.

 

It seems like it'd be easier for banned members to create sock puppets, come back, and still be allowed to participate in a discussion that they had previously been banned for.

Seems counterproductive.

But, he's pretty sophisticated and smart which is nice.
