Depends on category you asking Romance, Comedy, Action, Sci-fi, Fantacy, Noir ("dark" anime catagory not just Noir the anime) Many animes are intermixed between categories. Also what I like is a little off from what most people like (crest of the stars for example), I would not feel safe telling people what my top ten are (out of fear of being laughed at). On EVA I thought is was great anime just very hard to follow and weird at the end.
Like you said, many of them cross categories. Fear of being laughed at? why? hmm.. ten is hard for me. the first couple are easy. Eva, trigun, FLCL, cowboy bebop, digi charat. after that it gets a bit harder... bastrad is good though i don't know if i would put it in my top ten. hmm... i got 5. 5 more... can I count the three dragon ball series as just one? doh, how could i forget el hazard. ROBOTECH!! two more... hmm... I'm torn between gundam wing and sd gundam one left.. ranma 1/2? NO!! ruroni kenshin! not the english dubbed shit though. they totally screwed the voices over. (dialogue too)

Guyute I had high hopes for Tenchi Muyo. When it first premiered it had original style with some nice fight scenes and an interesting story line but with each progressive saga the series got worse. The third saga where Tenchi moves to the city and gets stalked by a evil, powerful, girl was just pathetic and mind numbing. They dragged that excellent show down to the level of Sailor Moon where it had nothing but whiny characters and utterly mundane plot lines. Even the last big battle between Tenchi and the evil girl was pathetic to say the least. The first Saga was the best and should be watched. Skip the other two crap fests.
I heard they are making a season 3 for the Tenci Muyo OVA (first or original) it was ment for 24-26 ep but they cut it off at 13eps years ago, do to popular demand its being restarted, I think anime rums are usually just that. The problem with Tenchi was that after the OVA was cut other anime compaines took over and made there on twisted versions (Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo, Tenchi movies, ect).
The Tenchi movie where he travels with his friends to find his mother was great. Tenchi in Tokyo was garbage, completely insulting to the original.
How did it go.... Tenchi Muyo...I liked.... Tenchi Universe.....Decent..... Tenchi in Tokyo..........Lost its edge...... The part that I didnt like was how if I missed a episode I had no hope in ever getting back into it. This was the reason i lost siginificant interest in Dragon Ball Z.....Cartoon Network kept switiching around the damn sagas after the First lump of Boo's saga ended.
I hated how in the Tenchi OVA they cut out all the nude scenes for TV. A Ryoko fan like you Guyute would have like that. Ok I can at least name my three favorite animes! Fetus/eer I mean Neuro’s Favorite Animes are: 1. Crest of the Stars Saga 2. Ghost In the Shell Series 3. Scrapped Princess 4... All of these Animes have captivating plots, detailed character development, and excellent themes. Comedy and Action are second place to me. I prefer an anime that captivates me and intrigues the mind. I want characters you grow to understand intimately and deeply. I know but Cartoon Netwrok aired the whole saga in two lumps....after the first bulk of it they kept going bac kand forth with different past episodes causing eventual death of my interest in the show.

Just watched some random part of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Now that stuff is *%#&ing awesome. Though it's often too um, deep and *cough* confusing to understand ... :bugeye:
EVA started out sane but was fuck up beyond belief by the end. We go from main character pick up to be a mech pilot to the end were the main character is masturbating by the injured unconscious body of a girl on a beach next to a sea of blood with the titanic naked disemboled body of teenage girl covering most of the planet!
