Yes, and I like it. Since, as an unrepentant hippie, I don't have a very high opinion of the police, I generally don't enjoy TV shows that make them out to be decent people, much less heroes. They seem like sheer propaganda to me and I have an almost irrepressible urge to throw a brick through the screen. But there are a few that I appreciate. This is one, as are "Castle" and the various versions of "NCIS."
They need to hire a science consultant, perhaps even a general consultant. First episode had one of the characters say "that's what I like about mechanical engineering. A 1/4 inch wrench always fits a 1/4 inch bolt." No, it doesn't - and just asking someone on the set crew would have fixed that. When you base a show on clever science and engineering, it pays to get it a bit more correct.
