So what? if I want to believe in flying pink unicorns that is my right who are you to tell me not to believe in that? those are my basic human rights. So what do atheists want to do? get rid of human rights?

No one is saying you do not have the right to believe what you want to believe. To suggest otherwise is a fallacious.

The question, if you re-read it, was whether it was "reasonable" - not "acceptable" but REASONABLE.

i.e. can you, through reason, explain your belief in whatever it is you imagine and believe exists (e.g. Pink Unicorns).

Again, I stress, NOONE is saying you don't have the RIGHT to believe what you want. That is not the question - so do not raise it.

Belief of something does NOT make that belief a reality!

You can certainly BELIEVE it's reasonable - but IS IT?

Can you reason the existence of the invisible pink unicorn, for example?
    Please try.
    Please.

In The Name Of The Most Compassionate GOD. Salaam / Peace everyone; I often wonder how atheist explain their consciousness. Is it true that some think it is a chemical reaction? Could it be that there is a soul, within that gives life / consciousness, to the material body?

Nor is death like being in a swoon / faint. In a faint / swoon, condition you would await the return from the unconscious state. While in the death state, you would await the raising up by The One And Only GOD. Isn't this true! And it makes sense, that a child would know this. That is why we must return to the trust, innocence, the fertile mind of a little child, before we can again, enter the kingdom of The One GOD. Salaam. Faithfully

Not crazy - but merely irrational.

chimps aren't conscious of god (higher self)... one difference between animals and humans is that animals are happy with themselves. they don't want to evolve and become something more. humans constantly try to reach a goal (god)

    Chemical, physical, biological, neurological.

At a simple level - without the brain there is no consciousness.
Therefore the consciousness must lie within the brain.
The only evidence that exists is that the brain is entirely physical / chemical - and hence obeys the laws of physics / chemistry.

Could be - but there's no evidence for it.

Is it? Where is your evidence?

Does it?!? Why? Where is your evidence for this? Where is this "sense"?

First you must provide evidence that only a child would know this, as you claim above.
Then you must provide evidence for a God.
Then provide evidence for this God having a Kingdom.

    I'm happy with myself, thanks.
    I'm not trying to evolve.
I'm me, and very pleased about it too!
    And I am an animal.
    We all are.

And anyhow, how do we "try to evolve"?
Evolution is not something you can strive for - it just happens!

Faithfully claimed consciousness=soul. Chimps and coackroaches are conscious

Could you please tell the animal that told you this to come to my house I want to take him on a round of prestigious universities so he can give lectures whilst I pocket the money

what is this me you're talking about?

    i'm not an animal.
i'm not a body or person.
i'm not a part of nature.
    i'm not myself.
i'm the mind, when i am what i am.

we search something. i'm talking about mental evolution.

by "observing" animals you can understand how they are.

I doubt it. But that doesn't stop them from being warlike, violent little buggers when it comes to between group fighting. Like their human cousins, they have evolved to make war on their own species, with or without god(s).

No - you're talking about self improvement. Evolution has nout to do with it.

That's why we have psychologists, doctors, therapists etc - 'cos they observe us animals, trying to understand how we are.

Please document which observation specifically proves that animals have no interest in evolving.

In fairness, evolution has multiple meanings, including that relating to self improvement. If we were in one of the biological forums I would agree that his usage is faulty, but in the philosopy section I think his use of evolution is not only acceptable, but arguably the norm.

My cat, who is called Jasmine and is four years old, assures me she has no interest in evolving. Morevoer, she is opposed to the evolution of mice, voles, rabbits and any other small edible creatures.
If required I can furnish you with affidavits and an attested paw print.
