What do you think is the best cover song?
I'm voting for Alien Ant Farm's Smooth Criminal, it was perfectly played out and honored the original without being a boring copy.

FRAGGLE ROCK by Allister. I love it!

But Powerman 5000's Relax (Cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood)

I like covers that incorperate the bands own style. Not an exact replica such as AAF's one.

DJ Sammy feat. Yanou - Heaven (candlelight mix)

I know, not that intelligent rock that you kids like, but you just get that midsummernight on ibiza, everything in place, 'feel good' from it .

    (original Bryan Adams)

Besides, Yanou is a dutch singer, so I give some room to chauvinism

Nirvanas Man Who Sold the World kicked ass. Actually all the songs they covered on Unplugged rocked.

Yeah I like Smooth Criminal too.

I also like Dixie Chix' version of Landslide. The original is much better but theres is pretty good.

The Ramones - Spiderman theme song...i don't know if you can call that a cover song but it's still good...

Also do you have to get copyright permission to do these cover songs or just do them and hope record companied don't notice.

    Johnny Cash - Hurt

    Duh!

Runner up would be Sadist's cover of Iron Maiden's "Wrathchild" and Cradle of Filth's cover of "Sodomy and Lust" by Sodom. Tool's cover of "No Quarter" has been mentioned.

Type O Neg does some rather funny covers, most notably of Britany Spears "Hit me baby one more time" and "Possession".

the best cover is definitley Jimi Hendrix's version of All along the watchtower (originally by Bob Dylan).

Both versions are amazing. Dylan's was really good, his harmonica and his voice .... Hendrix's was seriously amazing....guitar in his version is otherworldly.

shatner was on stern quite a while back and the whole gig consisted of howard playing tracks off shatner's record and poking fun at him. a worse album cannot be made. there was one however of some retards in a school in canada that cut a record. became quite popular tho i cant quite remember anything more about it. that was the pits

    anyway some fave covers

listen to milla jovovich doing lou reed

    watch fiona apple doing lennon
