15 May is bike-to-work (bicycle) day in the US. I am definitely riding my bike in. It's well worth the time and effort. Let's make this a day to remember by breaking all records.
I would love to bike to/from work on a daily basis. The only thing stopping me is the fact that I can't take showers at office. I live 7-8 miles away (rough estimate...it may be more) so it would require serious peddling.
That is not a problem. I live 20.4 miles away. I have waterless soap and shampoo. I keep the change of clothes in my office. When I get here, I wash up with the waterless soap and shampoo, put on some deodorant, change clothes, and I am ready for the day.
I am retired so I will walk around the block instead. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Get a bike engine and only assist with pedal power on the way home. http://www.staton-inc.com/default.asp http://www.bikeengines.com/index.htm http://thatsdax.com/
I bike every day to work (15 min) and then to the grocery store and to the city and basically everywhere except to the beach (to much stuff to carry)
I'm tired of these gimmicks. What's one "bike-to-work day" going to accomplish? It's simply a small variation of one component of our lifestyle lasting the time length of a day. Big whoop. For the next three hundred and sixty four days, everybody will be back to driving their gas-guzzlin' SUVs to work.
For most, nothing. For the ones that do it all of the time, a lot. And you're right, Americans are too lazy. I have no sympathy for them and gas prices. Honestly, I welcome $6 - $8 per gallon prices. It will force this country to change its habits. If I am not riding one of my bicycles, I am riding one of my motorcycles. Rarely do I drive my truck. I hear excuses as to why so many can't at least ride a motorcycle in and they continue to bitch about filling their vehicle up. The best one I hear is that they have to look professional. BS. I am a professional, yet I ride mine in. I wear my armor clothing over my professional clothes so all i have to do is pull it off and I am ready to go.
I can't. I drive my work vehicle home at night, and then back in the morning to get my jobs for the day. But this time of year I often go for twenty mile rides after I get home from work. I just got back from one.
not me - I sold my car and only bike now. BUT, if I did move far away from work then I would probably drive to a train or if I have to drive to work :bawl: If I don't bike for a couple days I start to go crazy!
