Who would want to start another Ice Age? I seriously think it was just an accident. One that could have been prevented, but wasn't.

Obama wants us to fail. I saw a picture of him reading a muslim written book entitled The post American world" hmm i wonder why would our most mysterious president be even spending a little of his time reading someones thoughts of our countries demise, when you put energy into an idea it makes it more plausable. maybe he should read something on our returning glory.
or maybe someone photoshoped the book into his hand, i dunno.

Heaven forbit he should read books. Fareed Zakaria is fairly mainstream.

If it were, it is highly unlikely that there'd be any question as to that fact. Terrorists would not typically pursue attacks that aren't obvious as attacks (rather than accidents) as such would defeat the entire point of terrorism. Terrorism that isn't apparent as such is flatly incompetent.

As to whether it was sabotage, that's a more interesting question. However I still think that's unlikely - there's sure to be an extensive investigation, so unless you have 100% confidence that you can carry out a sabotage without leaving evidence of such, it's sure to backfire.

Thats nuts dude, and even if he was reading a book about Americas demise so what?

He is the leader of you're country, i sure do hope he is reading books, (like that).

He should Know what other people are predicting, so he can try to prevent it.

If anyone tried to kill the USA it was bush Jr, your nation has a lot of work to fix what he started.

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama was behind it.

Hitler always said, tragedy was a great way to get the people behind you.

Yeah, but alot of people aren't getting behind him. In fact they're doing the oppostie. I'm not sure that Obama would purposley want to lose popularity. Especially if he's looking for re-election.

All things are possible though some may be unlikely. But the fact that this thought is out there, now the terrorists will eye those targets in the future. It is very easy to cause damage in a flammable area. Even on the ground if you know what you are doing like Iran.

I doubt it because, unless you have a solution, you are too dumb to pull this off.

Nah, he was reading it, but who cares? Like Soullust said, there are other reasons for him to have been reading it other than to learn how to destroy the country... I'm sure he's smart enough to figure out his own ways without the help of that book. But what you said is still interesting... if the United States as we know it today were to fall from grace as a global superpower. Would it really be the countries demise? Like you said; what about our returning to glory?

Consider this: The United States as it is today is a far cry from what it was originally intended to be. In some ways it's good, in many it's bad. We concern ourselves more and more with National Security, Global Hegemony, and being the leader of the free world/the Global Police. On the other hand, that same power allows us to help those in need all over the world.

We as Americans need, absolutely NEED to come to terms with the fact that we cannot be the most powerful nation in the world forever. Eventually, inevitably, somebody else will surpass us, that is simply how the world works. If that is what people consider our demise, then that isn't so bad so long as we aren't conquered and enslaved. If we maintain our sovereignty, and gain independence from foreign oil, foreign loans and all that, we could be an incredibly prosperous, free nation. Whether we're a global superpower or not doesn't really matter.

That's what this country was founded to be after all, free and independent... not to be the most powerful nation in the world. In a certain perspective, our "return to glory" would be losing our status as a global superpower. Fewer global responsibilities, less need for national security, no need to worry about global hegemony... a genuine sense of urgency of the people to become competitive again. We certainly couldn't afford to be lazy anymore.

Exactly, nobody would want to... however the results of this spill may indeed lead to one.

I just don't see any nation that is trying to surpass us, as willing to allow us to quietly slip into the night. I believe they would want to eliminate us as a future threat.
Therefore more then likely it will have to happen swiftly and without warning.
also the way it seems, quite likely our own government is the one who may be the one to worry about enslaving us.
One idea, gun control, ignorance and propaganda, stipping us of our defenses as citizens. throught history when a country starts taking our defenses it turns into a very bad situation. (obviously not every instance, but when it is a powerful country, and your rights are revoked)
Obama anti guns... anti Oil...(even though i understand that is where his wealth originated) reading literature about life on earth after the country he runs is gone. wrote by a muselim, wasnt Obama supposedly a muselim at one time, and then said in effect he changed his mind, he no longer was a muselim? I wont go into the birth certificate thing.
but his campaining against offshore drilling will probablly gain popularity after this fiasco. hmm i wonder why it took him so long to respond to this disaster?
didnt we have another president that did something similar in a disaster situation, that Obama criticized him for his delay?
Obama scares the shit out of me! so did Bush. But at least I knew what team Bush was on.

I guess it's possible that it was sabotage, but why would BP do that to themselves? They stand to get raked over the coals, financially speaking.

Terrorism? No, it was just good, old fashioned GREED, cutting corners in safety.

    No need to overcomplicate things...

BP has no motive. Do you think BP can be benefitted by spilling? Either by reputation or in finance? But there is another story.

Watch this:Goldman Sachs knew Gulf oil leak in advance.

All I can say is: Just about everybody thought the same thing about Russia when they were the Soviet Union. Now they're one of our allies... granted it's a shaky alliance, but an alliance it is.

Goldman didn't short BP alone - they shorted the whole Gulf.

Given their long and cozy relationship with the governmental regulators and businessmen involved, with the inside info into the risks being run and the attitudes involved implied, that is explainable as simply a good bet on likely events. The problems with the deepwater drilling operations and the cavalier approach to looming disaster endemic in recent US administrations were well known to the lefty environmentalists long ago - Goldman does not have the same prejudices against these sources of information that blind so many others in the power halls, and they have their own besides.
