Exercising, avoiding snacks, giving up drugs... none of that stuff really makes your life any longer. It just feels like it. ^_^

I loved the "Pearls before Swine" strip a couple of months ago. The rat was in the doctor's office being lambasted for his lifestyle: primarily eating processed foods and watching TV. The doctor laid out this detailed plan for improving his health, the keynotes of which were running and eating vegetables. The rat asked what exactly he would gain from all this. The doctor said, "More years." The rat said, "More years of running and eating vegetables?" The doctor replied, beaming over what he assumed to be his latest convert, "Yes, that's right!"

In the next panel the rat is sitting in front of the TV with a Costco-sized bag of pork rinds, saying to himself, "Well that was a no-brainer."

Nothing adds to your life expectancy more than being older! Mine was 86. Of course for me that's only 25 more years. Depending on which 25 of the previous years those new years would most resemble, this could be a blessing or a curse.

    87.6....

I was surprised considering how at the end of every category, I usually get a message that says "Room for improvement".

Xeres, Your mention of "crystal ball" brought memories. I had in my possessiobn a few years past, a scrying ball, or "crystal ball". The intstructions were to be alone in a quiet room, a candle with the slightest illumination of the ball and quiet patience. Begin to stare at the ball while resisting the use of words that mostly were telling me "what bullshit all this is", when the words began to fall away the ball became milky white, filling the inside, a wispy smoke like motion. After a few moments forms began to appear through the smoke until the ball was completely filled with a scene of men on horses, galloping to some place with determination fixed in their stares. I recognized the event and felt a chill for when the scene was drifting awayand we were in a quiet rest after 15 or twenty minutes, we were set upon by an enemy we had come to rout. Instead they had laid in wait for us and the battle was swift and complete. The spear in my back only hurt for a little bit. Like I said, it was a memory, proving nothing, except as I said, I remembered the scene.
