On a more serious note, in our media there appears to be an emphasis on testing somehow miraculously tied to containment when it is actually contact tracing and appropriate quarantine that does the job.
The media seems to be saying, inadvertently, that testing in itself is a way of reducing the spread.
It is unfortunate that the emphasis appears to be shifted from social distancing regardless of the testing regime in place to just testing.
News from the USA suggests a similar error in messaging.
ie: "schools can go back, don't worry we will be testing." suggests a fundamental lack of understanding that it is only when student(s) tests positive that we should be worrying.

A bit late, horse after the cart type thinking IMO.

I don't disagree, but... Vociferous doesn't really provide much room for alternate responses when he pulls that crap. I mean, the only alternative way to respond is to ignore. Neither is productive nor furthers the discussion, but there's always hope (I guess) that he'll discover the futility of such an approach and reconfigure. He's not stupid, but I can't fathom what sort of satisfaction one can derive from such an approach.

Also, for every active participant, there's 5/10/100? lurkers unfamiliar with the context. Doesn't hurt to remind.

 

I'm sure the narrow-minded and bubble-dwelling partisans here will continue to think whatever they're predisposed to regardless of anything I say. And having literally told you why Trump would want less Covid testing and already explained why it's facetious to think that the federal government can control state and local municipality testing, I can only assume confirmation bias keeps you from reading simple English, even repeated multiple times.
