Do you, a free person, see Muslim females as slaves?

Whilst I do not agree with some of the sentiment expressed I do wish to say that it is not much good just throwing the allegation of bigotry at someone when they are expressing the "common" fears that many, if not most, in the community have regarding xenophobic and Islamophobic issues.

In fact one could suggest that it was the reluctance of the Democrats to at least acknowledge the serious fears the American population has regarding immigration that allowed Trump to gain power. It doesn't matter whether you feel that it is paranoia, therefore irrational, fictionally based etc... the end result is a community in fear with out recourse.

Surely it would have been better if the Democrats had addressed the obvious migration issue that is and was sweeping the world instead of burying it under the irrational/racist tag thus avoiding the main issue.

Migration matters! Paranoia matters!.... and denying it means propagating bigotry even more so...

No. It is important to call bigotry out when you see it, to drag it out into the light. It doesn't get a pass because it's widespread.

True, calling it by name doesn't do anything to quell it, but that's no excuse to pretend it isn't what it is.

well face it.. the world is full of bigots and racists...also full of very scared people... a people that would be very advisable not to ignore.
Just yelling out bigot etc and not offering a way to placate the bigot, racist etc. got Trump elected... some achievement that was...! Now you have a bigger racist and bigot issue to deal with....

Immigration, xenophobia and Islamophobia are very real and serious issues and not ones to be swept away and under the carpet of self-righteousness.

I guess I read your post 41 as saying 'don't bother calling out bigotry, since it will only fall on deaf ears anyway'. I was disagreeing with that.

But, on reflection, I think your point was deeper than that.

    Yes .. thanks...
otheadp2 started a thread titled as it was, mainly because of xenophobic, Islamophobic fears. Most of which are founded on fear based speculations about a future of a society he/she cares about. The fear that all the gains achieved, ( human rights, woman's rights, equality etc) over many years of hard and painful protest activism and hard work will go down the toilet by being too willing to accommodate those from other cultures that don't appear to share the same fears, thus values.
But this is only speculation based on loose factual associations, therefore could be considered as paranoia.

However regardless of whether it is paranoia or not the issue of refugee, migrant, integration and assimilation into "our" pre-existing culture is a hugely important one...
I highlight the word "our" for a reason.

Is it reasonable for our laws and values to be changed to accommodate a refugee, asylum seekers, or migrants comfort zone? If so how far do we go in such accommodation?
These are all very important questions IMO

And the issue of migration will become even more important as Africa and even South America become mobilized due to famine, conflict , drought and aggressive social media. Numbers like 100 million more people seeking asylum in the later part of 2017 are not totally unrealistic.
We either get on top of the issue soon or be swallowed up by it later...and alleging bigotry and racism with out offering any solutions is not going to help much at all...IMO

As are Jihad and religious extremism. They are both based on fear and ignorance. Our best bet is to fight that fear and ignorance, not to tell people "you are right to be scared of the scary Muslims/Westerners/Crusaders."

    Mod Note

And yet, your the "white world" lines kind of puts the whole 'not brown or black people' into the category of just what this is about.

What it is about is simple.

    Simple racism and bigotry.

Your offensive comments are noted. And sadly, I did not catch this sooner. If I had, you would not have gotten much further.

See, the thing is that I abhor allowing someone like you with your opinions, using this website as a platform from which to spout your rubbish.

Normally, when posts like yours are spotted by staff, it is an instant permanent ban. Why? Because you are racist and a bigot.

I can only say that I feel sorry for those around you, because the level of hatred you have for others because of their religion and nationality, is not healthy and cannot be healthy. Do your friends know that you are this racist?

You should have remained in exile. Either way, you are going back into exile. Forced. Not only are you a sockpuppet, but you also returned simply to spout racist and bigoted rubbish.

And your opinions are not simply impolite, Oth. They are offensive and racist.

An yes, they are utterly unacceptable on this website..

    I. Unacceptable behaviour that may result in a temporary or permanent ban

    Hate speech and stereotyping
I6. Hate speech, defined as the vilification of groups of people based on their race, religion, country of origin, sex, sexual orientation, political affiliation etc. is not tolerated on sciforums.

I7. Stereotyping a member based on his or her membership of a group (e.g. his or her race, religion, country of origin, sex, sexual orientation, political affiliation) is unlikely to be conducive to civil discussion and will usually attract moderator attention. It is acceptable to point out similarities and differences among groups, but only as long as this is supported by argument or evidence.

I8. The use of vulgar or demeaning words to describe a group of people – particularly a group that includes a member whom you are addressing – is unacceptable.

    So goodbye. Don't come back.

I guess what I am really trying to say is that too much energy is being devoted to granting bigots and racists credibility by virtue of arguing with them and not enough time devoted to understanding and acknowledging the fears that drives the bigot and the racist.

Even though I agree with OP that repressive systems should be eradicated,I think the way the free nations are operating is questionable to say the best.

I agree that any oppressive system should be eradicated, but war has never brought peace. So bombing a country for freedom doesn't make sense.

Freedom can only be brought on a people by their own choice, and if they want change they have to step up and change their country through revolution. That's how we did it in the West, and that's how they can do it too. We should stop bombing those who have done nothing to us, that will only repel them. Education is key, not bombs.

Education and slow and steady evolution towards a more sustainable state....

Tell that to Germany and japan. Yes war can make a nation "bend the knee", but not a religion, not a culture, fundamentalist can only be defeated with prosperity and education and takes generations.

The problem as I see it is, in America, the Democrat party tries to constantly recruit new voters. Their long term plan has set their sights on immigrant groups for future voters. To maximize yield, they try not to make any distinction between legal and illegal immigrants, Muslim extremists and moderate Muslims, or as with sanctuary cities, law abiding versus criminal aliens. They do not wish to offend any potential voters, so they merge everyone into a shiny stereotype. It sort of like a used car salesman who tell the mother her baby is so beautiful, even if not so. This makes her want to buy in. Truth can cause inhibitions to the sale pitch.

The people on the right, who are not recruiting immigrants as aggressively, will make a distinction between criminal and honest aliens, legal and illegal, Muslim extremist and moderate Muslims, since the negative sides of these distinctions, have a social impact in terms of life, liberty and costs. Muslim extremism does not mean all Muslims are Terrorists. It differentiates a subset of Muslims, who are warring all around the world. This same sect has been doing this over a 1000 years off and on. But since the left uses a one size fits all, used car sales pitch, separating the Muslims is interpret in a one size fits all way; projection of what they are doing.

The right is being rational, with respect to social costs. Trump made these distinctions in his campaign. He can differentiate between legal and illegal immigrants, but the liberal stereotype, does not wish to make any distinction between a gang banger or doctor. If you do make this distinction, you have a phobia. Again, this is a way to suck up to potential future voters, who are now supposed to see the Democrats as protectors from evil stereo types, that are not even there. Draining the swamp is about getting rid of all these used car dealer scammers, who will mislead to gain new votes, so they can gain power.

Trump is not allowing this game to impact him. As Trump extracts the bad distinctions, people will notice how this is much safer and more productive. The used car swamp will fall by the wayside.

Are you serious? Are you people huffing glue? I'll give Wellwisher analyses of the democrats but the claim republicans and Trump are rationally distingushing legal immigrants from illegal immigrants, secular moderate Muslims from fundamentalist terrorist Muslims, is laughable!

Trump proclaimed that a Hispanic federal judge born and raised here in the USA could not be trusted to be unbais! Even fellow republicans had to point out that was racist! Candidate Trump demanded a "total and complete shutdown of the entry of Muslims to the United States", that is not separating the good from the bad! As president the first thing he tries to do is implement some kind of executive order facsimile of that proclamation and I personally witnesses with my own eyes it effect secular moderate Muslims of high education and employment, threaten their livelihoods here in the USA because of the country they came here from (to get away no less), Iran.

And then to claim this is all part of draining the swamp, because putting two goldmen-sachs bankers in the presidential cabinet is certainly not, putting some religious fundamentalist in charge of the department of education that paid off the republican party with 200 million dollars, is not draining the swamp, no no what is draining the swamp is apparently "used car dealers" "fall by the wayside"?
