That's because some people don't actually "think".

I know. I run into them all the time. I just smile and say 'uh-huh' and 'really!' a lot. I just figure my daughters 3rd grade friends don't know any better.

I think I would have to say, no, it doesn't exist.

    Real - proven or verified?

    I don't think so...

The real magic would be if Hermione ran out of money and decided to do a porno.

I too can make people say oooh, ahhhh, and wow. When I drop my pants to show a real life one-eyed dragon is one. This is usually followed by, "wow, that's huge". The other times are generally when I'm in bed with women. For some reason they can't stop themselves saying those oooh, ah and wows when I'm doing indecent things with them. It must be real magic. It's certainly greater than anything Potter can do. Hmmm... Maybe if the next installment is X-rated it might be just as magical. Hahaha.

    Seriously though it doesn't exist.

It's not like I care whether you belive me or not. I suppose you have to see and experience it for yourself to believe. If I was you I probably wouldn't believe me either. Haha...

Just for the heck of it, I wonder how it would work in reality? When the "magician" utters the incantation and waves their hand/wand/whatever, what physically takes place to create the lightning bolt? Do the sound waves from the magician's voice interact with matter somehow (other than the obvious)?

of course magic exists. everything is magic.
it works the same way as when you create lightning bolts in dreams. the words themselves do not cause it... it's all about thoughts (words stimulate thought). nothing takes place physically, everything takes place mentally.
    ---
you can do magic without a wand but to do really good spells (like when moses split the sea) you need a wand.

How would a person's non-corporeal thoughts directly interact with reality to produce a lighting bolt?

thoughts are waves of energy way beyond gamma rays. unfocused thought is like light, but when you focus it's like a laser beam. a long time ago people used to have wands which could stregthen the power. that's why people still speak of magic wands, but only in fairytales.
