    Could it have been a shadow of something outside? A bird flying past my window at the right time of day can send a blurred shadow flying across the room. Keeps startling me when it happens.
    Or maybe it was just a fly or smaller insect just inches from your face, making it seem bigger?

    Some moths overwinter as adults, in spaces resembling niches under loose bark etc - most can fly above 55F or so, although it takes them a while to warm up.
