There are plenty of human beings who are decent, good, kind, informed, essentially honest, responsible, and not predatory on others. Who have empathy, in other words, and do not use it to bully or cheat.

Trump is unlike them. Trump is utterly corrupt, completely vile. And he represents the corrupt, the bullying, the ignorant and self-destructive mob that is the Republican voting base. They love him, and they will continue to love him until the inevitable disaster requires he be set aside and some new center of vile corruption take over the role of worshipped fearless leader.

Their handlers will see to it, or at least try (it's going to be more difficult with Trump than with W&Cheney - he didn't have as much of a cushion taking office, and he's mentally unstable).

We have noted how consistently Republican voters project their own motives and behaviors unto others, how frequently the Republican framed media invokes "both sides" in the wake of the latest Republican misery and incompetence - so claiming people like Trump or McConnell are "human like you and me" is consistent with the entire Republican media presence and effort.

But it isn't true. The Republican Party has become an organization of people who are not ok, not good, not decent, not honest, not even sane in many respects. They have been captured by the mob psychology of a fascist movement.
Most people are not like that. (That's the case with most if not all fascist movements in their rise to power - they are never a majority of the citizenry, always a definable and limited subset of the country's population).

I couldn't have said it better myself.

    Not really.
CNN may be a left leaning news service, but it deals with verifiable facts. It is a News service.

OTOH, Fox News is not a news service and deals mostly with right wing propaganda and rumor from unverifiable sources. It is a rumor mill and GOP propaganda machine!

    Difference.

You couldn't have made a more bizarre statement if you tried.

Coming from you and your demonstrated lack of critical questioning, of course you would make that comparison.

You can't even spot embedded links in posts, let alone offering critique on its content.

It has weight in the reality based community, that Fox cannot hope for. That's why the Republican media operations have focused on corrupting it.
Even though CNN is by now solidly rightwing corporate framed, committed to "both sides" framing without a balancing lefty viewpoint, it still manages to incorporate physical fact into its news - as one of the "sides".
You couldn't have said it at all. You lack the base in reality required.
That's why you omitted the rest of the post - the stuff about hero worship of demagogues, and the utter corruption of the Republican Party. The context backing the assessment.

Empathy: Those who have it, and employ it rather than platitudes in dealing with Republican base voters, have pretty much all arrived at the same verdict: those people are full of shit.

Empathy: The characteristic human deficit of the Republican voting base, rooted in forty years of disinformation manure. The only way out for them is individual personal growth - becoming an adult, responsible for their political behavior and ashamed of their past, willing to atone.

They should never, ever, be appeased or appealed to - no deals, compromises, or agreements can be made with committed fascists. As those empathetic with and informed about Republican voters know, it's not only futile but corrupting to attempt such impossibilities. The rest of the country, if it truly needs or wants "bipartisanship", must simply wait for the few and exceptional converts to decency and reality based politics.
