    Evolution...

Charles Darwin explained this by going to the Galapagos Islands and he noticed that the birds had different beaks yet they were of the same species. He found it interesting that the islands were so close yet the animals differed. He concluded that the islands different environment led to specialized skills needed to survive. On one island the birds (I believe) had a pointed beak which were used for digging insects out of trees while on the other island the insects were more abundant and the bird's beak was wider to capture more bugs (someone confirm this). This is what understand what evolution is, adapting to the environment to help the animal survive better than if it did not adapt.

    Here goes my try:
Every species have a genetic code, which decribes all the features and functions of a living being:how many legs, eyes does it have,
instructions for the heart to beat,or to the stomach to process the food, your size, strenght, and so on...
But all the individuals of a given species dont look exactly the same:this is due to small differencies in their individual codes
originated by changes operated in the process of construction of the code known as mutations, which are passed from the individual who generates it(the change) to its descendants;now:most mutations are bad, because they happen randomly;imagine an ancient deer-like animal who has a neck longer than their species average,it would have problems feeding since they eat field grass;but suddenly,a great dry season comes to the country and the deer-like creatures start to die from hunger because the grass need some minimum amount of water that is not getting ;but our "freak" longneck pal can reach the lowest leaves of a bush resistent to the lack of water so he lives;he lives and passes his mutation to its descendants, and now most of the former "normal" deer likes have dead and now the "freaks" are the shortnecked, but the process doesnt stop and higher the bush has more leaves so the longnecked among the longnecked feed better and the process keep going until you have the giraffes species:so the best adapted in any given moment in a given place has more chances of survive and leave the advantage to its descendants, along millions of years the accumulation of differences results in a new species which in time will evolve in other and...(to the future).
