Usually it would be a star colliding with a black hole rather than two black holes, which I believe has been observed. The properties of black holes are pretty well established by general relativity and observations of things interacting with black holes. Are you trying for the record for the biggest error to word ratio or something?

Yes, this may have been observed and it has certainly been hypothesized and analyzed. Supposedly if the spin of the black holes is opposite of each other one of them recoils with great speed.
