People are free to say what they want to say: But each is also responsible for what they say, and any predictable offence, insults, or hurt it may occur.
Standards also change over time......In my day if I called a Policeman a pig, I would get a great big size 11 boot right up my clacker and probably spend a night in the clink also.
Now days some seem to be able to get away with murder and can call a policeman whatever he/she damn well likes.

Well now your just straight up lying you selfish little vagina. <-- PC - feel better?

Your the one who claimed to be 'livid' and if it 'wasnt for your friend' you would have engaged in an act of pedestrian road rage over a silly assed word; which is an immature reaction. I pointed out faggot had its own controversy during the advocates attempts to gain sympathy for their cause, something you were unlikely aware of.

Its too bad your friend so easily talked you out of standing up to the guy in the car. Maybe you could have impacted the taunter enough to slow him down. But that would have been a real effort to change your life, come out a winner. Cant have that can we? nah, its much easier to play victim.

Tali gets my point. Why cant you? Hopefully you read the Atlantic article I linked to; though it does not appear to be the case yet.

LOL! So now I'm a selfish little vagina? So again, what is your point? That I should have taken that stranger's shout of the slur "faggot" at me as a term of endearment? That it was somehow my fault for being livid that someone would shout hatespeech at me? Once again, you evade my questions and ramble on about irrelevancies.

Yes, it is absolutely 100% your fault that you let some stranger in a car bother you to the degree you became livid. It is 100% your fault you enjoy wallowing in Common Cognitive Distortions to enhance your own self-pity.

LOL! You're insane. So what exactly were the positives that I filtered out of the situation of a guy calling me "Fag!" from his car. Go ahead and list them.

You are blaming the victim of an attack instead of the perpetrator?

This question presumes Milkweed actually cares either way. Celebrants of hate should not be expected to attend the implications of their words; that's the whole point.

Besides, I'm still trying to figure out how vaginas come in this conversation.

    Into. I mean ... into.

    (sigh)

It's always the gays' fault. It's how we walk. How we talk. How we cruelly upset tiny minds by walking out of gay bars at night. I hope I didn't traumatize that poor man who called me "fag" TOO much by existing. How dare I pursue my life in public, arrogantly presuming not to be harassed for simply being myself! See how I was just asking for it, strolling down the street at night like I had a right to. How weak of me to be outraged by that homophobe. Standing up for myself in the face of his verbal assault. I should be ashamed of myself.

OK. Being as you struggle with Cognitive Distortions I will follow up.

    1. you were with a friend
    2. you had interactions for an unknown time period before entering the bar with your friend
    3. I am guessing you enjoyed your time in the bar
    4. you step out and for 3 seconds someone called you a fag
    5. The rest of your life you cling to the 3 seconds, describing your reaction as becoming livid.

How many other people during that time did not do anything to offend you? Do you see the positives you choose to filter out? How about the other interactions were neutral? It is by your choice, well I will give you a bit of slack on that....

It is by your conditioning that the word fag became a negative. I introduced a legitimate concern within the male homosexual community that fag/faggot is a masculine version of gay and that there are homosexuals that prefer its use. Your reaction was that my family friend was a moron (interesting choice of words from someone who despises fag). I did not point out to you the term moron - from wiki -
*during the same time period homosexuality was considered a mental illness by ... wait for it... psychologists

and you chose to use the word moron multiple times (much to my amusement), for someone you never met, solely for the reason he has a different opinion. You cant even complain "well he's not gay, what does he know". I appreciated his viewpoint. I never thought of it that way. You dont like that either because again, I can see the value of that different opinion.

I could go on but have doubts you've been able to read this far into my post without losing focus and traveling back in time (mentally) to some past negative your weird brain wiring will associate with the current event.

owell, tonight you will probably see a ghost. All will be good again....

And just like it doesnt bother me that you believe in ghosts, bigfoot, ufos, etc, it does not bother me that you become livid over something as benign as being called a fag. I just think your immature.

But I didn't filter out that evening at all. I enjoy many of the events from it in my memory. But I also don't deny the experience of being victimized by hatespeech. Why should I? It happened. Do you only remember the pleasant things that happen to you?

Yep..he's a moron alright. Anybody who embraces hatespeech as normal and endearing is moronic.

So what? Why would you think I care about your opinion of me? You're a name on a screen. You have no relevance to my life at all.

Oh... and was your friend gay? If so, what makes your reaction so different from your friends? Same word, same night but your friend had the mature response. Common sense on the names will never hurt me.

Yes MR it is 100% your fault/responsibility on your reaction to a benign event.

My reaction was different. I was confronting the asshole. He preferred to move on. So what? Two different approaches, neither of which were wrong.

I'm quite proud of myself. I don't usually stand up for myself. But I did that night. And I did from then on.

I turned towards him and shouted back "what did you say?" You have some personal problem with that too? Have you ever confronted anyone about anything they called you before in your whole life? Or do you just run away with your tail between your legs?

I'm no great fan of MR or some of the ghosts and goblins nonsense he pushes, but let me ask you a question......
If you were walking down the street with your Mrs, and some turd yelled out that she was a slut or something similar, what would your reaction be? Seriously.
Most of these turds are low life bullies, and from my experiences in life [at least on three occasions] give a bully back some pain that he causes to others, and he'll probably turn tail and run.
This was a video that went viral and I support the victim and his actions 100%
People are entitled to say what they like, and are also responsible for the repercussions of what they have said.
Most bullies hate pain inflicted on their person.

People like Milkweed want to be able to harass and bully other people without any form of repercussion or restriction.

Of course, they will be the first to pipe up and pitch a fit of male privilege when the subject of rape or rape culture comes up, because the words "rape culture" offends their delicate sensibilities. Let's not forget, Milkweed was the one who whined that the lives of rapists were being ruined when a video of their raping a girl made its way on the internet. No word at all for the victim.

We can only hope that Milkweed and her ilk never have children who feel bullied and harassed enough by other people to the point of suicide. I wonder if Milkweed would tell her children that they should just buck the fuck right up and stop being a "vagina" about it.

We should also note the tacit homophobia in Milkweed's responses, the manner in which Milkweed approaches the subject of homophobic bullying and harassment. Her response is to make it the fault of the victim by trying to degrade them further and their sexuality further. Milkweed, of course, ignores what bullying and harassment does to people. Sure, it's just one word. But add that one word to a daily barrage from people like Milkweed and their ilk, not to mention discrimination and violence. It's easy to focus on just that one word and ignore the context and history of that one word.

    Gee is that right?
I wonder what your Mrs would think? Me? If it was one arsehole that made the remark, I would cause him some form of controlled physical pain then hold him and call the police.....If it was a group of them, I would immediately call the police and let them deal with it.
Sure, and if I happened to be involved with any of these same turd bullies, and any insults, I would take whatever required controlled action was suitable at the time.
