A quick question for anyone who has already taken the GRE Math Subject test. What is the maximum possible score? I ask this since every practice book I have (including the one from ETS) states that it is out of 890, but every online reference I have found, including those on ETS's site (http://www.gre.org) say that the maximum is 990. I would greatly appreciate if someone could help clear up this confusion, and hopefully before this Friday (April 2), since I'm taking my GRE Math Subject test this Saturday at 8:30 am(April 3).
i am pretty sure the maximum is not 890, as i think i scored above that. i think 990 is the maximum score. why don't they just make it 1000 or something? i never could figure that out.
You mean even someone who scored above 890 on the math GRE can't figure it out?! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
OK, i just i looked up my score, it was a 930, which is definitely above 890. so 890 is definitely not the maximum.
It went fine. Now I just have to wait until May 5th to get my score. Dang man, you lucked out. They rescaled the scores in 2001 since about 20% of people were getting a 990 on the Math GRE prior to that date.
Technically universities would have to raise the acceptance score to compensate for the large volume of high scores. I guess instead of having all the universities change, they just changed the test scoring methods. Nope, it's still a pencil and paper test. Technically, neither the content nor the format of the test has changed (says ETS), they just rescaled the scores so it's harder to get a high one.
