Is there anyone with significant knowledge in Hinduism, especially Shakta? I'm currently thinking about taking up a relig, and I might need advice before I blindly jump in. Or blindly swim.

Anyone wanna be an online guru?

There are really two different ways to go about it, I think.
First is to gobble up all the Hindu literature trying to understand the core of it for which you would need a guru or
Second is to understand the essence of the religion in its spirit. I think most Hindus would not be able to dole out from the texts and scriptures, though they understand and practise what it really means. For this, I guess discussions on this board would suffice!

The true Hinduism (the essense of veda or sanatana dharma) is a state of mind. The best solution is to read up all the topics in this section (E.Phil) and then ask questions.

But if you want physical presence to rituals and companions, or even something comparable to Christianity - that is a whole different issue.

Yes you need a Guru......A real Guru, and you need to meet them in person, if only once

How do you tell a false guru apart? Well, I suppose a demand for $9999999999999999999999999999999 for initiation would be a fair sign...

    Question and Answers !

Having a detailed Q&A session would be ideal before you start it. I may be able to give some suggestions / answers.

Q: How exactly would you go about converting to a tantrik vegetarian diet without causing significant bother? (I have these staunchly omnivore-bordering-on-carnivore parents, and they pretty much flip out when things don't go their way...if vegetarian diet is about non violence, this pretty much loses the point, if you cause mental violence to ... ARRGH never mind)

Q: Farming causes significant death to the animals living in the field. How would I go about dealing with the evil karma from eating the veggies that caused death to mice, frogs, etc?

Q: How exactly does onions, garlic, or mushrooms harm you?

Heck of a lot more on the way, just dietary stuff for now...

What Spookz and others including me say Plus some addons it is true that currently this is what Indian Gurus have become.

But real Gurus dont come forward. My Grandfather(Maternal) has a guru who was a Shishya of Shivanna Maharaj.Shivanna Maharaj could do astral Projections and could convert himself into anything. My grandfather had seen this actually happen while passing through the forest, while he was trying to follow Shivanna Maharaj. He shapeshited to A Lion. and thats true.Everyone in that City knows this fact.He lived for about 200 years.and he died because he just wished to.

    thanks.

    bye!

Interesting...Can one of the resident yogis tell me about there systems? I would appreciate it. I've always been curious about the Indian practices but usually spend my time with Taoist practices.
