What was the name of that guy that huffed helium. Saying it had all the perks of being drunk and none of the negatives of alcohol, but went demented from it in the end?

How does long term helium abuse affect the brain (sounds weird lol)?

Helium is inert. It doesn't do anything to you other than play with your vocal chords. It's used in technical diving all the time (Trimix...helium, nitrogen and oxygen). In diving it's used to displace some or all of the nitrogen. You still need oxygen though.

I might be confusing it with nitrous oxide.

I think so. That's "laughing gas" and it used by some dentists.
