    time matters?

i took the ihiqs untimed test but only spent about 30 minutes on it and i got a score of 138, so if time matters if i would have spent more time on it i probably couldve figured out more problems or does it even matter?

Do you want a CULTURE FAIR test ? Based on a REAL test model ?

    Ravens Advanced Progressive Matrices test

It is based on J.C. Ravens matrices. This one in particular is closer
to the ravens advanced progressive matrices, as the items are of
harder difficulty than the standard version but the progressivity is
the same: as you move on, the patterns get harder to find. Have
    fun...

What is an Intelligence Quotient? The typical dictionary-regurgitated meaning is
    .

Obviously, the typical IQ test is horribly flawed in the method that it derives this figure.

However, most people understand it to mean the intuitive reasoning ablility of an individual. It is not however, a measure of the raw mental ablility of the brain - IQ focuses on a particular aspect.

IMO the IQ model is too simple and more variables need to be taken into account before the concept can be usefully applied.

Anyway, I have had results between 100-160+ on various tests - obviously there is no consistency between them.. I scored 133 on this test and have scored 145 on a professional psychologist test. But please digest this with a generous helping of sodium chloride.

my IQ has varied between 117 to 140 on many different tests, im not sure how relevent IQ tests really are as i am 17 unemployed and didnt finish my AS levels yet accordin 2 all tests above average, i think they are an indication of intelligence but dont help 2 unlock that intelligence if that makes sense 2 ne1

Of course, there is far more too it. I believe the original theory was based on proving that mentally retarded people, are in fact, mentally retarded. Secondly, it was used for screening out people with low IQs from joining the millitary, as well as showing why intelligent people are more adept at more academically inclined jobs. Ie, it was good at stating the obvious.

lol, true, the other problem is that there are different areas of intelligence and some tests are all based on one area eg: visual puzzles/patterns or lingual questions. If you take this into account then assessing someones intelligence is very difficult as we all have strengths and weaknesses.

There is one element that is common to all skills and that is g. It can be very accurately measured with certain tests, ie the Ravens Standard and Advanced Matrices: computational power can be measured and thus, the person's potential known.

So is http://www.iqtest.dk/ a valid measure then?

It is very similar to the Ravens so it should be within 5 points of a proctored
test. Do it once with the time factor and once without: both will enable you
to see how you perform in different settings.

While these may be more consistent, they still suffer from the same flaws that the whole IQ concept has.

Aww, too bad, just got an IQ of 137, I think I will blame that on me being german and not able to understand all of the test.
This test suck anyway, normally I get an IQ of 150-160 out of them.

159! it's high, but I still have to disagree, NO test can acurratly measure inteligence, I mean, look at my spelling. LOL, but seriously there are so many different kinds of intelligence that it is impossible to fully summarize into 3 numbers

Here's a fun one (genuine, too):

    Catell-Weiss IQ test

92 items, 15 point scale and timed.

Note: Zipped file. Decompress and run the executable in main directory to
    start application...
