Here's the definition of ufo that you keep forgetting:

" Anything that relates to any airborne object which by performance, aerodynamic characteristics, or unusual features does not conform to any presently known aircraft or missile type, or which cannot be identified as a familiar object."

    (USAF Regulation 200-2)

Given that definition, do you believe in ufos?

For those of you still having a hard time grasping what ufos are, or perhaps pretending to to avoid discussing them, here is a good overview of the various types of ufos that have been witnessed or photographed over the years. Note the diversity of shapes and sizes and luminosities and flight characteristics. This is an example of the detailed body of knowledge we have attained from many years of studying this phenomena. And yet for all this knowledge, we just can't seem to figure where they come from. Hence the adjective "unidentified".

    100%

But but but given even those characteristics I believe they are
    • UNEXPLAINED
    • When (if) they become explained they will be of Earth origin
    • If they remain unexplained I will not speculate for them to be of non Earth
    • I will settle for unexplained Earth origin

Can anyone see in that USAF Regulation 200-2 the part where it states: There is no other explanation other than UFOs must be ''either from the future, or interdimensionals, or extraterrestrials.''
    My bold.

Until it's Identified, it's Unidentified. You may belabor that point all you want, it doesn't help your case.

Here's the interview with the actual Navy pilot that saw the huge tic tac back in 2004. Totally credible and compelling account..

Compelling video footage of a flying saucer just outside of Somerset England. Note the footage was analyzed by a special effects expert and found to be authentic..

Me: If the explanation is unknown, then we shouldn't get out in front of that fact by saying either "not of this earth" or "of this earth". That's something we don't yet know.

But there's a more subtle problem. 'Of this earth' seems to typically translate into 'of this earth as we currently imagine it to be'. Or 'the explanation must necessarily conform to the explanatory principles that "skeptics" are willing to accept'.

I'm willing to entertain the additional possibility that the explanation might be currently unknown to us yet nevertheless 'of this earth'. In other words, I don't conceive of 'this earth' a closed box with a known and finite set of contents (our current set of explanatory principles). I certainly don't assume that all observations must necessarily be reducible to the contents of that box.

I want to at least entertain the possibility that events might occasionally occur that, if and when we properly understand them, might expand the size of our box of explanatory principles in very interesting ways.

I will probably be banned permanently for posting all this extraordinary evidence of ufos without providing some pretentious fact-distorting analysis that James R is fond of. Compelling evidence just royally pisses James off. He's just SO scientific ya know!

For evidence to be compelling, it has to compel somebody. Yours doesn't.

If it was compelling someone who matters would have taken it up. Dismissable "evidence" just doesn't make the grade.
