Oh snap... which languages do you speak? I've been trying to learn some Malayalam, but it's difficult without a Roman script for me to work from.

I'm best in Hindi and Urdu. I understand Gujrati and Marathi perfectly, but I'm out of practice in the speaking. Some rudimentary Arabic

In Malayalam, I can say "yenake Malayalam ariyille"

Do you have to be Indian to count as an ette? I learn this stuff because my ABCD girlfriend is from a mallu family.

I wondered why anyone would struggle with Malayalam.

If ya' want some scary figures, check out the number of Indians who die of easily-cured diseases like malaria, measles, whopping cough, etc. Indians die by the thousands every single day of these diseases, but the Indian government would rather spend the money on space flight and space satellites and nuclear weapons!

Hmm so explain why the US:

1. voted against the Right to Food
2. opposed the Arms Trade Treaty
3. patents traditional medicines for profit (i.e. bio-piracy)

 

You can not have a right to anything but what you can provide to yourself. All rights amount to the right to be left alone. A right to food is simply a blank check forcing someone else to provide if for you.

 

Unfortunately I don't think I qualify...

It's not "the US" that patents traditional medicines, it's individuals and corporations.

Also, it bears mentioning that innumerable products of America's industries, culture and society are pirated by individuals (and even governments) the world over.

 

I doubt any of them lead to people suffering from starvation or inability to afford medicines.

 

I'll tell them to kiss my kundi if they do that...

 

A right to food would make it difficult for corporations to destroy local farmers by distributing land to non-food uses

Unfortunately it would affect profit margins
