Iran's moderates have made substantial gains-- though not won a majority-- in the final results of runoffs resulting from March's elections. This is a promising sign, both of support for Rouhani and for the nuclear deal Iran signed with the West. To what extent Khamenei and the mullahs actually pay attention to this is an open question, but there is definitely a swell of popular support for what the population sees as advancement of their interests.

The hardliners were soundly defeated, not even managing to get 1/3 of the seats.

This isn't a dramatic turnaround, but it does signal slowly changing attitudes among most Iranians. And that seems like it's probably a Good Thing.

Yes potentially very good news. Be nice if it kept spreading throughout the middle east so that folk, women in particular, are able to gauge how utterly soul destroying and evil the extremes of religions and the hardliner ratbags pushing the shit can be taken to.
The beginning of the end???? A bit too soon to say so yet.
